Capital One in Bowling Green, Kentucky - Too Many Phone Calls/ No Communication

I have a capital one account. I have been making my payments although they have been late. My problem with this company is the fact that they will call at least 4 times a day and every day all week. Also, recently they have taken it upon themselves to now contact me while at work. This is against the law. Keep it up and I will make sure a lawyer gets involved in the near future. From what I understand, I could lose my job when bill collectors take it upon themselves to use my work number for their harassment calls. This company should learn to communicate to each other. Then they would know that I had already talked to someone the same day they call. Like I said, Keep it up. I always wanted to own a company. Have a nice day!!!

Hey there I agree. Here is the new on the phone calls.

They hire out to contracting companies to call all hours from different states and area codes thinking we may pick up. These outside contractors DO NOT have access to your account. If it is not the area code of 972 do not answer it and do not give out any information to them if you do answer.

There is no link of documentation from these contractors to Capital One Auto Finance. It is a JOKE.

According to the Fair Debt Collections Act Practices they can call you at your place of employment if you are in default of your obligation. However, as a consumer you can put it in writing, send it certified mail to have them contact you at home or on your cell.

If they are calling excessively and you are actually speaking to a representative, ensure you get their names and a possible extention. Calls are set up on on an automatic dialer and they do not respond to voicemail that's why you may see numerous calls.

I feel you, just write a cease and desist letter it basically states you ask them to contact you by mail only. Should they breach your request you have the option to seek legal actions.

So you can afford a lawyer but not your payments? That is the american spirit lets sue because i spent their money and i'm not paying it back.

As for the lawyer you might want to check the FDPCA they can call you at work.

Privacy Violation Committed by Capital One

Round # 1 In 2006 I was unemployed and couldn't make monthly payments on a number of my debts. Most of my creditors give me some leeway in meeting my payments but Capital One sued me instead (for my credit card balance of around $8000). Agents for Capital One could not locate me in order to serve me (personally) with the "Statement of Claim (SOC) issued by the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta. So the Agents for Capital One dropped off the SOC at a company where they thought I was employed. They left the SOC at the reception desk of the company. The SOC was open to view and not sealed in an envelope, thereby allowing the company's staff to see that I was being sued by Capital One as well as the financial details. When I was advised of what had happened, I complained to both Capital One and the lawyer representing them. I stated that the manner in which the SOC information was distributed infringed on my rights under the PERSONAL INFORMATION PROTECTION AND ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS ACT (PIPEDA) of Canada. The response I received back via their lawyer was that Capital One didn't feel there was any breach under the PIPEDA provisions. So I lost Round # 1 Round # 2 is my official PIPEDA complaint filed with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the results of their investigation. Round # 3 is the apology I received from Capital One in October 2009 (3 years too late and 10 bricks short of a load) and my last letter to Capital One in response. Round # 4 is the Rap Video documenting the Capital One Violation episode. The video is being produced by the "Trailer Bark Boys" (a band from the Alberta Foothills). The video will be posted to YouTube on May 1. Details of Round 2, 3 and 4 will be posted on Capital One Pissed Consumer on March 17, April 1 and May 1 respectively.

If you are so worried about your privacy, why are you telling the whole cyber-world about your problems? Maybe you're just stretching things a bit, eh?

Just think,

The banks are having difficult times because of people such as myself.

I am in need of a credit card to help build up my credit. I'm 19, and currently own a single credit card, which I've paid off every month since I received it. Lately, I've been in need of a computer for school, and was looking to get a second card to put the remaining balance on. So that way, I don't have to pay for it entirely out of pocket, and I can build my credit at the same time, while using the machine for school, work, and my art.

I look at these different credit companies, and know what I find out? I find hundreds if not thousands of reviews from people, just like you or I, that have previous experience with these credit card companies.

I find out, that the majority of reviews people write up, are generally complaints. Know why? Because consumers are unsatisfied, or wronged in some way or another.

For example, that man, had a definite privacy violation by Capital One. I myself, am being harassed by them, others, that have been faithful loyal customers for man many years, all of a sudden have tripled rate hikes blamed on the economy, or unexplained. Usually those hikes are un-authorized and un-notified. I see people receive ridiculous unnecessary fees and people taken advantage of, especially the people that are very unfortunate. It seems like people I see that lose their jobs, have significant pay cuts and such, that just need a bit of leeway till they get their feet back on the ground, are hit the hardest. They aren't cheating out the credit companies, they just don't have a way to pay everything at that particular time. In most cases, people are extremely honest when trying to get their program modified to make it affordable so they can still pay it off, so I have no respect for you when you call them lieing cheating no paying bastards.

I have never even applied for a credit card with capital one, yet i receive multiple phone calls from them with these sleezy offers, and letters in the mail with supposed information from my credit account, which I do not have with them.

People like myself, which see these companies, such as capital one, refuse to do business with them. I will not ever own a capital one credit card, nor have any sort of transaction with them due to the ridiculous instances I hear about from people. Just take 10 minutes and google some of these other complaints from people who have been paying their card off monthly, and had perfect credit for the past 10+ years with them, all of a sudden have card suspensions, new unexplained fees, rate hikes, and takes six months to close one single credit line, instead of a single phone call.

It's people like me that are "hurting" these banks, because I will not interact with ones such as this. (Capital One)

And "you", get some common sense, learn English, and go troll a bridge elsewhere.

Dear crybaby,

Just think if you would have made your payments none of this would have happened. Let us all sue when we cant make payments, and then wonder why the banks were having dificult times. It is not the banks fault but the LIEING, CHEATING, NO PAYING BASTARDS...

When are predators like capital one who destroy peoples lives going to be stopped?????????????????

Although my auto loan payment was only 13 days past due they continue to make unauthorized auto drafts from my checking account (3 times) causing me to bounce my mortgage payment as well as utility payments. getting the money back is a nightmare and requires substantial amount of time on the phone and the filling out of paperwork.

I now have to close my existing bank account because even though they have given me a letter stating they removed me from the auto pay program, they still take money from the account whenever they deem necessary. Capital one is able to bypass the block at the bank by entering different amounts at different times.

Because they have the banking info they have a standing authorization to take money any time. I want to personally thank our president for his great work on the finance reform legislation; another great(NOT) accomplishment by another worthless politician!

Capital One in Portland, Oregon - Not that bad...

I have been unemployed for a year now and could no longer pay my capitol one bill.... I called CO and cancelled the card than called PP and they helped me make a payment && on top of it the lady that helped me was so polite and kind. She explained what PP could do for me and why I should keep them untill I pay off the card completey. As long as I have an existing balance on my cc they will help me once a year with and emergency payment. All in all I was very satisfied and DID NOT cancel my service.... I would have to say I love my PP plan!!!

Capital One in Newburgh, New York - First statement already had late fee attached

The first statement I received had two payments due and a late fee attached. I called customer service, I was told nothing could be done. I asked to speak with a manager, I was told if I made payment by phone then I could speak with a manager. I said that what they had done was illegal, I was then forwarded to a person claiming to be a manager, he told me that if I made the payment by phone, he could remove the late fee. This being the first statement should have only one months minimum payment due plus the annual fee, I did not have two months of each plus a late fee; and the fee for making a phone payment. His reply "then I cant help you" After this I said that I wanted to make a complaint about about not being allowed to speak with a manager and was told that if I did not want to pay the bill he was not going to talk to me. At this point I hung up. Now what?

Capital One Should be Boycotted

In 2003 I lost my job and went homeless. I wound up being homeless for a whole year, unable to find a job. I tried to work with Capital One, but they wouldn't offer me any way to lessen my payments. Instead, they just added on over-the-limit fees and late fees ($25.00 each) every single month. Then, I got on SSDI, because I was being treated for depression among other disorders and I had to pay the full amount of rent. I offered to pay Capital One $25.00 a month. They refused to take it. If I decided to pay them the the $25.00, they would still add on the montly $50.00 fees. I may as well be not paying them. So, after three years they gave one of my accounts to Zenith, a collection agency. They accepted the $25.00 a month. Why did I have to wait three years for someone to work with me? Well, that went fine and I eventually got it paid off. In the meantime Capital One sent my account to Solomon and Solomon, another collection agency. This agency absolutely refused to work with me. They put me through ***. Even after I started paying them ($100.00 a month--a steep payment for someone on SSDI) they threatened to drag me into court and make me pay the court charges. I had to go to a debt consolidation agency and for the last four months Capital One has been taking the money from them and yet rejecting the account--how can they take the money and reject the account at the same time? They are now hassling the debt consolidation people. I think capital one should be boycotted!

If you find a fraudulent charge on your capital one card, do not waste your time trying to resolve it. You will be put on hold over and over. They will send you a letter telling you the dispute has been resolved only to keep charging you for the disputed charge and...

I have tried for two weeks to talk to a real person at Capital one. There is no option on their menu for talking to someone. I've tried every number that I can find. I need to get the payoff on our car, but the automated system only gives the original purchase...

You indeed can press zero and get a person, but it's a call center over seas with the worst phone quality you've ever encountered and their ability to resolve issues is laughable. I've been trying for a week to get a restricition removed from my account that THEY accidentally put on it.

I've had three way calls with my bank and Cap One, had to read of long series of transaction numbers and any other number of ways to verify that yes, indeed my payment did clear but you *** accidentally put a restriction on it.

Each time they say that it's fixed, apologize and then when I check my account online it's back to the way it was before I spent an hour on the phone fighting them. It's not worth it, I'm closing the account.

Beware of Capital One Auto Financing

I was looking to purchase a new car and searched online for the best rates. Capital One offered 4.7% with an online application process which I submitted.Instant approval and an email to confirm. I called them and provided proof of earning by fax. All was approved and verified. I chose my car, completed the purchase paperwork and arranged for pickup. The Capital One blank check arrived with instructions for use. I transferred my insurance to cover my new car. On the same day of issuing the check, Capital One called me and canceled the check and told me to find alternative financing. No reason, poor attitude and did not care about the inconvenience caused. I have a 800+ credit score with ample income to cover these small payments..... Extremely poor system to approve the loan, issue the check and cancel at the last minute. No one from my house will ever use Capital One for anything.

This is really horrible, but your better off. I deeply regret getting involved with Capital One Auto.

That was the same sweet deal we got many years ago after searching online. We paid with no problems for several years then our problems began with an error that ocurred by them.

Even though I tried to work with them, they still screwed me over. They are the worst Auto Finance to work with.

Capital One Rip Off

Capital one just sent us a 1099c (I think that was what it was called) "cancellation of debt". however it wasn't really a cancellation of debt... basically they over charged us interest and piled late fees on top of late fees which took us over the limit, so then they piled over the limit fees on top of late fees. It was a big mess and none of those fees should even have been put on our account - it was their mistake. I told them I wanted to close the account but I was only willing to pay the balance I owed, not all the fees they piled on top. They agreed and We paid them off with last years tax refund, exactly what we owed. They reversed all the fees - or so I thought. Now they sent us this cancellation of debt form. I'm not sure what I'm suppose to do with it so I'll give it to my tax preparer along with my other paperwork, but now I guess its going to affect our taxes refund somehow. Don't do business with Capital One!!!
