Capital one

After four months in a row of paying 3 times the minimum amount due and not using the card, I have now been hit with over the limit fees. The balance never seemsto go down! They post my payments up to one week after submitting them on the web site. They deny recieving any e-mails from me on their message board complaining. So, I just moved my balance to my Chase card. Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** Capital One *** DO NOT USE THESE CROOKS CHASE IS MORE HONEST

Capital One "To Negotiate or Hire Atty"

I sent Cap One VOD they requested more info. I resent VOD back with their letter. I received letter dated 7-3-08 stating I had until 7-3-08 to pay 5,499.34 in full. They go onto say they do not have a valid signed agreement with me because this account was set up on line or over the phone??? They sent a copy of a statment dated Nov and Dec of 2004 and a copy of a customer Agreement. What do I do next???? I had ID theft and filed BK in 2001. This is part of that but I can not get Cap One to comply. This is the only bad mark left on my credit report. It shows charge off! Thanks

Capital One Bank completely insane...

Had $15,000.00 in a Capital One internet savings account. Forgot the answer to one of the annoying security questions that pops up in order to access my account. Question was what street I lived on in 3rd grade. I'm getting rather old and we moved around a lot... No alternate question was offered. A screen appeared that my account was disabled and there was a number to call. I called the number that appeared on the screen. Gave them my name, account number, birthday, SS#, called from my home phone, etc... Then they said I would have to answer questions based on public record in order to access my account. They wanted personal information about my brother's ex-wife (divorced 5 years ago)!!! They wanted to know where she lived. I said "How the *** would I know and why would I tell you if I did???!!!"... "Sorry sir, if you're going to talk to me like that I can't help you." It was about the only thing she said that I heard clearly. Everything else sounded like she had marbles in her mouth and I had to ask her to repeat many things, some of which I still couldn't decode. I think you know what I said next, starts with an F and ends with a you... Later, I remembered the answer to the security question. Account wasn't disabled as they claimed. Transferred all the money out of Capital One. This is how they intend to survive the banking crisis??? Not on my money...

IF YOUR TIME IS IMPORTANT TO YOU, NEVER USE CAPITAL ONE CREDIT CARD. They are the worst in the industry!

For the 4th or 5th time in a few months, they have put a hold on my credit card for no reason. It is so embarrasing! I am waiting in line to pay the cashier at a supermarket and the card gets declined. I know that there is plenty of money on the card, so I called the customer service number.

Guess what? I am transferred to India, where I could barely understand the customer rep's thick Indian accent. I had to repeat my card number several times, then she argues that the number I gave is not a legitimate number. I said, "What?!" I am reading the card that you, guys issued me and I have been using this same card for years.

Then, she puts me on hold for several minutes. Upon her return, I remind her that I am still holding up the line at the supermarket and people are starting to glare at me like it's my fault that my credit card is having problems. The service rep asks me to repeat the credit card number 2 more times, puts me on hold for 3 more minutes and then says that there is no hold on the card and for the cashier to try to run it again. For the 4th time, the store cashier runs the card and again, the computer screen says that the card is declined.

I tell the service rep this, and she still insists that it is not on their end, but on the store's end. The cashier runs the card 2 more times. Same thing. I ask the service rep to be transferred to a supervisor and she says in "an-i-don't-give-a-***" voice, "I can't transfer you until I exhaust all the troubleshooting possibilities.

What are the last 3 digits on the back of your card?" I give her the number and she says, "That is an invalid code". Again, I shriek, '"What?! I am simply reading the back of my card and I have used this code and this card for years? What is going on?" She says (amused), "Hold the line..." Again, I was on hold for several minutes, then she comes back on the line and said, "I don't see any problem on the card.

Run the card again... Maybe this time it will work." I ask the cashier (who at this time, is now glaring at ME), to run the card one last time. Guess what?

Card is still declined and the phone goes dead! Unbelievable!

I agree, Capital One Bank worse bank I have ever dealt with--they play more assine games with passwords that can drive you crazy. And you are talking to robots when you talk to their reps.

Veribanc Ratings is currently (July 08) giving them a "yellow 1 star" rating.

Not Good. Make sure you're FDIC covered.

Penalties & Finance charges despite payment in full

Last month, Capitol one stuck $64.68 of charges on my account, ostensibly because my payment was late. After I showed that my bank had made the payment on time, the charges were removed. This month, however, I have a new charge of $9.56 because I paid the balance less the $64.68 (which was credited to my account before the due date.) Today I had to listen to Tara and Shirley from Capitol One "Customer Service" tell me that a zero-balance isn't proof of payment in full...that I should have overpaid the account by $64.68 in order to avoid the $9.56 finance charge. What rubbish! Let's do the math, too...assume for a minute that the erroneous charge of $64.68 was valid, 9.56/64.68 over 30 days amounts to %177 APR.

Anonymous - you work for Capitol One, don't you? Or did you just make this obscure rule up?

Here's the "Rule of Bluewinterdog" - If you don't want to *** off consumers, skip rules like this that are designed to rip people off.

#53900

Rule of Capital One - To not get a finance charge on an account, you need to pay in full for 2 consecutive months to not get a finance charge, whether it was on a principal balance or on fees, if u pay off an account in full for 1 month, expect a finance charge

NO BILL FOR OVER & NO CONTACT INFO

I have an auto loan with Capital One. They threatened repossession after they failed to send me a bill for over a year. I continued to make payments online. I sent a letter demanding contact with no response. I received a letter stating that ONYX ACCEPTANCE was the new owner, with no contact information. I attempted to visit the website, which is a dating site for evidently African Americans. I still make payments, but I know I've paid over $2,000 over and above my loan due amount. However, they've F-UPD my credit so that I can't buy a house. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME.

Capitol One Credit card company doesnt care about having a language line.

I work for an insurance company and an individual that only spoke polish stopped by my office. He needed to activate his card and I said I can try to help him with it. But when I called capital one I was told that the account was going to collections and that was too much info for me to know. Therefore I asked for a polish operator, I was transferred to the spanish department. How is spanish the same language as polish? I asked the individual for a polish operator where i was told that they only have spanish and english operators. If Capitol one really cares about their customers they should have a language line, and also they should not hang up on their customers!!!!!

Here's a idea...........learn the language of the country you live in.

#25528

If someone applies for an account in English or Spanish, why would they expect to get service in Polish? In how many languages should companies be forced to provide service?

I simply don't understand?

Hello my name is Shelonda Kennedy, my reason for filing this complaint is that I've had something accure on my account twice in less then two months and it is causing great concern on my part. In the month of May I was charged an over the credit limit fee on my account. When I called to inquire about how this could have happen and to see what I could do to prevent it from happening again. The young man on the other end of the line explained to me, I had exceeded my limit by mere pennies and this is the manner in which matters like this are delt with. This I understood but the June statement is what caught me by suprise. You see in an effort to take preventive measures on my part I made certain I paid more then my minimum of $15 so that it would cover any over the limit fee of a few pennies. I paid $25 on my account to reach my goal in August concerning a letter that was sent to me by your establishment. This letter stated that if I managed not to go over the limit on my account up to August I would quailify for a credit line increase which would be just in the nick of time for me because that extra cash would help me prepare for her starting school this fall. Now when I asked your phone rep. if there were any additional fees being billed to my account monthly he said no! This is what called my attention to the June statment because it shows a finance charge of $6.98 which is supposedly the reason I exceeded my limit. Charges on the account were in the amount of $5.00 (Thompson Oil), and $7.25 (Murphy) bring my total to $12.25 + a $6.98 finance charge for a grand total of $29.23. This is in addition to an additional $25.00 payment in the month of May which was supposed to take me out of the red according to your representator what wavied the over the limit fee. Someone please help me understand I wouldn't write in if I didn't need to have a true understanding of what went wrong and how it can be fixed. Yours Truly, Shelonda Kennedy

Have you tried using cash? Never any fees, interest, penalties, etc...

you just spend what you have and stop spending when it runs out. I know...

sounds crazy... but it works.

#23303

Um, any time you carry a balance on your credit card, you're going to get finance charges (except if you have a 0% APR). If I were in his place, I probably wouldn't have felt a need to go into detail about finance charges that post to your account, figuring that you'd know that you have to pay interest on outstanding balances - that's how credit cards work!

In any event, if you were overlimit by a few cents and he waived the overlimit fee, then you paid $25, that took you back under the limit by a few pennies less than $25. The charges you made plus finance charges were only $19.23, which should have kept you under the limit.

So what's the issue again?

I also agree that you probably shouldn't keep using your card. If you're getting that close to the limit and paying only minimums or a little more and salivating over the thought of a credit line increase, you're overextending yourself and should reevaluate your budget.

#19005

Capitol One are theives that take advantage of people like yourself by charging too much interest and tacking on ridiculously high fees.It doesn't seem like you owe too much You should pay it off and cancel the account. You could always take out a student loan for college.

Capitol One SUCKS!!!

Im trying to use my credit card as a debit card and just payit off at the end of every month. Everytime i pay it in full they freeze my card and make a different excuse for why they froze it. So i have to have a two hour fit with them to get it unfrozen. What they want is for me to build up interest and just pay the minimum balance every month!! It makes me look *** when i go to use my card and it declines. I feel like it makes me look ***. Like i don't know how to manage my money. I hate them.

Worst customer service I've ever known

I have been a Capital One customer since the late 1990's. Decided to close my accounts (2 total) in early 2008. Discovered this month (June 2008) that one of the two closed accounts had a once-every-3-years charge done to it in middle March. The difficult part of this is 3-fold: 1) No statement of outstanding balance since March. 2) I have gathered late fees, interest, and (I'm sure) dings on my credit report for not paying this charge. 3) Only when Capital One offered to waive the phone payment fee for me here in June (my first notice that I had an outstanding balance) did I figure out that I had an outstanding balance. I spent 2 (two) hours on the phone this morning with Capital One. 4 (four) customer service reps, including one manager, asked me to hold for a transfer, only to hang up on me. The 5th person I spoke to, a second manager, told me (after I had walked through a payment process and a refund of the charge in March) that I would be dinged for interest every day while I was waiting for the charge refund. 1st person to say this! We would have begun this dance all over again with interest unpaid, for how long? Every person I spoke to was clearly working from a script. When I asked where they were located I was told Utah, which (unless the East Indian population has increased dramatically) was clearly untrue. Note that I didn't ask where Capital One was located, but where the customer service reps ar located. And, of course, while they are happy to process credit card payments over the phone or by web, the only recourse for a customer service complaint is a P.O. Box in Salt Lake City. Results: 1) I will never, ever use Capital One for any credit services again. 2) I will burn lifespan telling everyone in my universe that they, also, shouldn't use Capital One. 3) I will use Capital One as an example to the customer service training programs I do of how NOT to interact with customers, or for that matter drive business. 4) I will assume that Capital One has so little interest in customer service that they will let the above customer service experience (5 reps!) be the standard for their behavior. Paid off loan 1 yr ago, still waiting on title

I paid off my auto loan on my 1999 Ford Mustang with Cap 1 in Feb 2007. I still haven't received my title and the car is listed as being a reposession on my credit report. After disputing this with Cap 1 they changed the report to a charged off account. The car was never repoed and I received a refund check for overpayment in May of 2008? I called Capital One to find out what was going on and the gave me an E-mail address to dispute this with. The address doesn't exist or work anymore!

You should get an attorney and threaten to sue. I know their titles and credit reporting departments are a mess.

With idiots like Kyle Shidler running the show, what else do you expect.

File a law suit. There is a good case for a class action law suit related to title issues and credit reporting issues.

At 3:45 PM Sat. 6/21/08, I received a phoen cll. A male voice called me by name and (falsely) said they had information that I was over $6,000 in debt and was paying 26% interest. I stayed on the line to get more info. Machine came on and said voice mailbox was full - stay on line. I did and am still on the line at 4:35 PM waiting for "next available" person to answer my questions. Only machines answer. Why call if there is no one there to answer? . I want to clear my record.

I don't know how my phone number got on another persons credit card for contact.

I want my phone number taken off of her credit card billing statement. This sounds like fraud and I am angry about this. American Leisures I got a call from this lady stating that on her billing statement from Capital One she is being billed from you American Leisures, and for the contact number my number is listed. I am a resident phone and how did this happen I am not too happy about this. I called American Leisures and they told me they would straighten out today 6/16/08. I hope so because this is not very good.

CREDIT FRAUD ON HANDICAPPED SISTER

A local dealership sold my handicapped sister a car she could not qualify and pay for. The dealearship called Capitol One and told them she earned $3,000.00, instead of her $800.00 disability check. We sent them a certified letter of the illegal transaction, and they have ignored it and steppped up collection pressures. I cannot believe that such corporations can turn their heads to such an injustice in the name of profit. What is this world turning into. My sister is without any legal representation. So if anyone knows a good lawyer. Call us 209-947-****
