Capital One stole $30,000 in deposits. Say they want more info from me, but are on the East Coast.

Capital one solicited an "Online Savings account" and took my $10,000 on 4/28/08. They have had a $20,000 CD since 2004. Now their Fraud Risk Operation froze both accounts ($30,000) saying they want a Utility bill. I sent my Drivers License and Social Security card in May- plenty for ID theft, but they want more. I rent a room and do not have a utility bill. My phone#, address: PO Box, and identity have not changed since I opened the CD account in 2004 (when it was CT zone). I want to know why they are on the East Coast and solicit me in Hawaii, took my money and give requirements later. They are only avail. by phone during Eastern time zone, M-F: not convenient to me! They refuse to put their requirements in Writing. I say close the account and am being stonewalled. To say I am livid is an understatement. This is a lot of $$$.

Indian CS NIGHTMARE @ Capital One

Every time I call Capital One & speak with their CS group I get someone in India that doesn't understand what I'm saying & I honestly don't understand what they're saying either. They lie & say their name is Charlie or Bob when we all know it's NOT. I've been hung up on by them a number of times just b/c I ask if they could repeat their question! That's NOT good CS! I'll be cancelling my card soon and please note that I've had it for nearly 5 years now! The company wonders why they're having issues - just a hint idiots - review your CS department! They're horrible! Outsourcing to a country that doesn't speak proper English & can't understand it IS NOT THE ANSWER!!!!!

The problem is that it seems everywhere you call for customer service, the people that are working there ar from another country and you can't understand them and they can't understand you. Maybe the companies don't want their people to understand you or you understand them, that way they can put you off for yet another day.

Capitol One Payment Protection Plan is a ripoff

I want to start by saying that the lowlife SOB'S at Capitol One are a bunch of theives. Myself and a close family friend had the unpleasent oppertunity to deal with these uneducated fools for over a year. It started when my mother had a Capitol One card, she had...

I'm sorry some of you have had issues. However I became unemployed on 5/6/2013 and I have had no issues getting my benefits started and they have made my monthly payments.

No questions, no hassles. Sure I had to send in proof of being unemployed.

No Biggie, do what is required and know your benefit information and it will go smooth. its not hard to obtain the information on the benefits and how it works.

Capital One

Capital One keeps on harassing us about our overdue balance they call us once, then they call back minutes later demanding us to pay them right away and they are especially bad about calling twice on Sunday's as well. They call all throughout the day (during the week) probably about 6-7 times at least and it is getting annoying. Don't they know that they aren't supposed to call on Sundays? It even gets to where they call right at almost 9 in the evening. I don't guess that they know the meaning of when people will send in their payment

Up to 15x per day. Can call 7 days a week!

#65025

Humm they are a triible service, I had to pay my balance. Once I did and asked them to close my account, they did not.

I had call several times to get them to close my account. I requested a letter from them to be faxed to me stating that my obligation was met and that the account was closed. Well I spoke with 5 diffrent managers/supervisors and never got the letter faxed. one said 5 hrs the other 7 days.

They are a joke they want you to pay but they do not live up to what they say.

I will never do buisness with them ever again. They are a terrible service company.

#23330

:cry

Seriously who's fault will it be when the creditors call after you file banckrupcy? The rest of us pay more because people don't pay. Thanks!

#16361

THERE IS A LIMIT TO HARASSMENT WHICH IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS FALLS UNDER.

#15443

Um, if your account is past due or overdrawn, they have every right to call you as often as they want until you pay. They lent you the money, and the terms you signed when you opened the account give them the right to pursue you to get it back.

Failure to help when stranded in a foreign country

I have been a credit card user or years. Recently, my wife and I were touring Europe. She became ill and was hospitalized in Switzerland. the hospital was charging $2,000/day. I called Capital One to request an increase to my monthly limit of $10,000 for just one month to cover anticipated expenses. Being in a foreign country, my options were limited. I was told there was nothing they could do about it. I requested to talk to supervision and was passed around to other people, all of whom denied me. I am through with Capital One. My payment record over the years has been impeccible.

Capital One Is Corrupt!

Here is my story: I was VERY dissatisfied with the way I was treated by the Capital One representatives with regard to some fraudulent charges on my credit card statement and I am very suspicious about the way they handle business. By the way, I am an excellent customer. In November/December 2007, I received a call from Capital One stating that someone was attempting to make charges to my credit card from Hong Kong. My card was cancelled and a new card was issued. This was the first time anything like this ever happened to me. There were no suspicious charges on my current bill and I never really made it a habit to scrutinize my bills on a monthly basis since I have never had fraudulent charges appear before. So when I received my end of year SUMMARY from Capital One in January/February 2008, I noticed that there were three charges made to my credit card that I know nothing about. One was on May 1, 2007 for the amount of $21.40, one was on July 4, 2007 for the amount of $123.90, and one was on August 6, 2007 for the amount of $123.90, for a total amount of $269.20. I immediately made copies of the charges and sent a letter explaining the suspicious charges. On Friday, April 11, 2007 I was transferred and put on hold numerous times. More often than not you could not understand the people you are talking to. I spoke with Florine, Charine (ID XNZJ966), Elizabeth, John, and finally Rudy (ID FQK130) who told me that a credit would be issued, my credit card would be cancelled, and a new one sent out. On Saturday April 12, I called Capital One again, and discovered what Rudy told me was a lie. My credit card was not cancelled and the charges were not removed. Again, I was transferred numerous times, to Sergio (WWE444), Alan (OPG134) and Mohammed (LAE734). I have reason to believe the names and ID numbers are all fictitious b-c you could never track anyone down again once you¢ï¿½ï¿½ve hung up from them. Since nobody would help me and since this was the worst customer experience I have ever had, I told the last person I spoke with to cancel my credit card once and for all. But I am not done. I demanded credit for $269.20 for charges I did not make, and I wanted a letter of apology for the way I was treated from every person that transferred me and threw me back in Q. I intend on exposing Capital One and telling my story to as many people as possible and to shed light on the corrupt behavior of Capital One in an effort that it lessens the number of victims in the future. A letter to the Comptroller of the Currency Administrator of National Banks at 1301 McKinney St Suite 3450 Houston, Texas 77010 quickly helped resolve my issue. I was issued a credit from Capital One.

Please Help Me!! I am a Canadian and I've had charges going on my account of the exact same amount $30.33 ....

it's happened a bunch of times it now totals up around $250 !! I'v e been calling capital one for exactly 3 months now and each time they say they are going to get it investigated and that they can not take the charges off. I don't know why they don't believe me! It's complete BS and I am so pissed!!

I only owe $200 dollars of my own charges on the CC yet they won't let me get rid of the Credit card!!!!!!!!!!! What do I do next to force them to get rid of these charges???? 1 month ago i called "Disputes" and the man on the phone changed my credit card number. I said I didn't want the new card or want to know the new number at all.

This month (1 month later) There are 2 more charges on my account!!!!! And guess what they said they are still looking into it!!!!

GAHHHHHHHH!! - Please help me somebody!!

#17043

I am glad to read this. I will not open an account with Capitol One and nor will I allow any of my relatives.

#14063

:sigh I recently talked to Capitol One. Though I did not get the bad experience you had gone through, I must agree about not understanding the associate on the other line.

I was transferred 3 times, and was getting very frusterated about not being able to completely understanding what the person was saying to me. I got so tired of apologizing and asking them to repeat themselves..then their attitude about repeating...I just said screw it and hung up!

All Americans Should Close their Account with Capitol One

With the U.S. ecomony the way it is, why should we give Capitol One our money, when they have outsourced their business overseas. Do we really want to make their CEO and stockholders more money? I don't think so. Since our ecomony is the way it is, my husband can not find a job, so naturally we have fallen behind on some of our bills. It really *** me off when Capitol One calls and I am not even speaking to someone in the U.S. I would be willing to let the company know the reason we are late on our payment, and we are trying to pay everything we can, but when told, the individual in India told us they didn't care, they have jobs and do not care what the U.S. ecomony is. Once we have our account paid in full, we will close it. I will not make a company money if they do not care about our Country. If everyone would stop talking to the people overseas and tell them that they will only talk to people in the U.S., maybe it would send a message to Capitol One. The one thing that would really send a message is if we all stopped using their credit cards and other services. If they stop making money and the reason is told to them in plain ENGLISH, "We will not support a Company that does not support U.S. Workers", then maybe they will bring the jobs back to where they belong! We as Americans need to hit them where it hurts, THEIR BOTTOM LINE. My plan is to deal with companies that keep their jobs in the United States!

Does anyone know WHY there are call centers overseas?

1) It's cheaper AND

2) (this is the clincher) no one is willing to pay more to do business with American call centers only

If you select who you do business with based on price (lowest APR), you're probably going to get the cheapest service possible. Once you find a few million people willing to pay 1-2% more in interest plus $20 more per year in fees in exchange for only working with American agents, I'm sure you'll see a company marketing US call centers only.

#14776

I agree 2,000% I have never been harrassed as much about my account being all while I make my payments on time. The reason they call me is they want to let me know my account is over the limit.

My point is I pay the amount asked on my bill every month, so stop calling me. I WANT TO TALK TO AMERICAN CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

#14064

I 100% agree with you there!

Capital One Fraud Deptment Denying Valid Use of Card

In 4 months, we've had about 15-20 occaisions in which Capital One card was denied use for fear of fraudulent activity. In each case, it was us using the card. Fraud Dept reps later call to confirm use of card but result of call is still Capital One is suspicious. Reasons so far: (1) more than one use at WalMart in a day (2) more than one use at a gas station in a day (one for car, one for gas can), (3) use card out of state without telling them we were going out of state. These calls are from Asian Indians who are hard to communicate with and follow illogical "rules" and supervisors are no better. Fraud Dept recommended closing card and getting a enw one. In the menatime, getting Fraud Dept calls stating more fraudulent activities which are simply recurring charges on the old card (lawn service, gym, car fast pass, etc). How do we file a complaint with Capital One to (1) make their Fraud Deptartment's FRAUDULENT CALLS stop and (2) get compensation for the 25-30 hours of time on frustrating phone calls and denied use of card?

I recently (after receiving offers from them every 2 weeks for 3 months) opened a new Capital One Credit Card Account. I received my card a few days ago, phoned the number given to activate and set up my PIN...of course I had to first listen and respectfully decline their offers of insurance, fraud protection etc.

(a 20 minute process). Within the hour I stopped at a Bank's ATM and attempted a $100 cash withdrawal only to receive an "unauthorized transaction" message. I promptly phoned the number given on the back of card and was told that my account had been suspended due to suspected fraud prompted by my transaction attempt. Are you kidding me!

Why had nothing of the sort come up when I activated my account not even an hour earlier...furthermore, they have my phone number (which was verified along with all my other identifying information when I activated the card) Why did they not call me?! Their reply was that they waited for the card holder to phone since someone fraudulently using the card would not bother to call...that is absurd! Then, after many phone calls to finally be able to speak to a supposed manager (they all claim to be the highest one up) I was given a list of items to fax to them to prove my identity...3 days later this issue is still not resolved (they couldn't read the driver's license...but didn't bother to phone to let me know that either...even though I gave all my contact info in my fax cover sheetand asked that they phone with any additional questions)...I really think they were simply trying to sell me the insurance, fraud protection, and monthly credit report *** and that since I declined having those charges put on my card they are now looking for a way to rescend their credit offer. I am unable to get to anybody within that organization with any authority to help me.

It is seriously the worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time, like you every time I call and am transferred I am disconnected...and there is no way to deal with just one person, so you have to go through the whole history each and every time you phone. They really need to get their act together, and I would also love to be able to contact someone higher up in their organization.

2003 Stolen Card 2008 Sueing Me

At age 18, Capitol One sent me a credit card. The credit card was stolen and I reported it in 2003. The card was used one time in the amount of approximately 250.00. Here it is May 2008 and I get a civil warrant to go to court so they can try to collect 1864.00 from me. Too bad these are words because I can't really express myself lke I would like to. How can a unsecured credit card company keep charging against the card with late fees and whatever else after the card was reported stolen? That is 1600.00 of what? Capitol One is the thief, not whoever stole the card. After 5 years of no activity on a sttolen card, you would think these "intelligent" customer service employees would know better. I guess not. Anyway I need legal help in this sitution. If anyone can help me, please respond. HELP HELP HELP!!!!

Capital One Blank check easy...No Way...Horrible Customer Service and Hidden Requirements

Customer service is horrible. I've encountered even compared to Sears... On hold for over 20 minutes without being told why and never during the hold time told that they are still looking into it and will be back as soon as possible. For their blank check, nothing was stated up front about the person who is selling the car needs to be in a different residence, so my credit get's run, I get approved, my credit goes down(automatically everytime your credit is run), only to get denied down the road and have to go somewhere else to get my credit run again. Tried to get proof of residence and was having difficulty as it needed to be a utility bill from the seller. I was concerned about the check expiring and was told that not to worry as it was based on when the check was written. Then I call and they say just call back and do a conference with PG&E for proof of residence, but when I call back they tell me the check is expired. What the heck are they talking about. The customer service rep then spoke to their manager who told them there was nothing we could do. I asked to speak to the manager, they asked for my contact info...I was like what "you just spoke to your manager" why can't you just transfer me to them as they are obviously there. So the rep put me on hold again to see if they can get in touch with the manager. Then all of a sudden the hold music stopped and I was connected to a ringing phone, and guess what it was the managers phone, guess where it ended up...IN THE MANAGERS VOICEMAIL BOX!!! Unbelieveable their management is just as bad as their customer service reps. Horrible, as I am a manager at a call center and handle these types of things on a day to day basis, can't believe their service is so poor, I guess "leading by example" is exactly what they are doing over there. Their Leadership is poor so their customer service reps have poor customer satisfaction skills.

I don't see why the are doing all this, after someone takes home the car? If they mess around. I'll just return the car, and tell them I will no longer use them for anything, ever again.

And I will blog to warn others. I hope it goes better for me.

Capital One Never Really Closes Your Account

Beware. I closed my account after many problems with Capital One on November 07. An error in paying my phone bill online triggered a debit payment resulting in this charge being applied to my now closed CapOne card. I had destroyed my card and never entered account number to pay my phone bill. How did CapOne get charged? If a credit card company closes your account it should be deleted from their data base. Cap One is not closing an account it just remains "inactive". I can't get rid of these people. There should be a law regulating this.

They call me several times a day!

It's either Capital One Auto or Chase Auto. Out of about 100 calls one person told me and I'm not to sure which they said. They call me several times a day, treat me with no respect. Don't answer my questions. They ask for someone I've never heard of before. They say they will remove me, it's been 2 months. A minimum of 4 calls a day. I ask for there supervisor and they don't connect me, they DISCONNECT me. I went along with them once just to find out who they are, cause they don't give any information. I am tired of being lied to, I am tired of hearing my phone ring at all hours of the day. I am tired of getting wakeup calls at 8am on a Sunday when it's my only day off! Sunday is a holy day and it should not be used for these *** people to call. Why don't they do there research to find out who they are calling and be polite rather then get angry. I am reporting them to the BBB and will file for harassment very soon. I would love to file a class-action lawsuit against them just for not having there facts straight. STOP CALLING ME! ENOUGH ALREADY. TREAT PEOPLE WITH RESPECT

hey, if i sign up for a capital one credit card, will they stop calling me?

#336300

I answered calls for a while 10 times a day. Told them when I was sure I could get a payment caught up.

Not good enough. Their "people" said, unless I schedule a payment right then on the phone, they will keep calling. Yes they love 8:00 a.m. on Sundays.

Not cause you may be home. The intent is 100% malicious harassment. One rep continued calling me for two days after I got caught up. It's probably good they can use the phone for this intent, because many people would justly do serious harm to them face to face.

What they do is assault from behind a phone and they know it. NEVER EVER give Capital One your valid phone number, and be certain it's unlisted completely because they track it through net spyware if listed at all, even if you're sure you'll have no problems with them.

#309282

Capital one can call you 100+ times a day if they would like. They are the loan holders and therefore are NOT bound by FDCPA guidelines.

Those guidelines are strictly for third party collectors. GOOD LUCK!

#149046

Capital one is a joke, I lost my job and told them this they don't care. Asked if there was any thing they could do, they replied no. All I wanted was to defer one payment to end of loan.

#97430

I too have a Chase acct. Even after I tell them when I can make my next payment and they say they will note it in their file. I get calls that start at 8:05 AM every day.

Their collections people are rude, nasty and uncooperative.

#86207

I have the exact same problem. Capital One Auto Finance thinks I am someone else; I have never had any business with any branch of Capital One. I notified them about the issue and they seem to not give a ***. If you find out how to make them stop, please let me know. You can find me by searching my name.

I had 8 messages from Capital One phone numbers this week. Six left only background noise in the message. Two had a person say something "hello? hello?" and then hang up. None declared who they were or what their business was. (My phone is also a Pay-As-You-Go phone, so any call I answer I pay for.) I received a total of about 40 calls from them over the week.

They also call M-Sat between 600a and 700a.

#67788

kale - can you read? the post clearly says they are asking for someone she doesnt even know - not asking for her.

If they are asking for someone you don't know, and they have no business with you, they can pay a fine everytime they contact you after being told not to do so.

I dont know the details, look it up on the net. But if they have been told no call - they pay a fine every time they call again.

#61890

Actually they ARE allowed to call up to 15 times a day, state law. When you are made contact with by the debt company after that you are done for the day.

Maybe if you answered the call the first time in the morning, it might actually only be one call a day that you get. They're people too. They are not required to leave a message when they call, and because there's a debt owed, it's not harrassment, it's called *** responsibility . .

. pay your bills!

No wonder our country's in trouble, no one thinks you have to pay your bills anymore. Just because you like yourself doesn't mean that you're entitled.

#60415

Years ago, I used to work for a credit card company that has since been purchased by another. I was in the collections department and yes, the FDCPA allows calls to be made from 0800-**** in the customer time zone.

Well, on Sunday I made a call to a debtor who insisted that we should not call on "The Lord's Day". Being that I am a Christian, I responded by saying "Isn't EVERYDAY the Lord's Day!" She sheepishly admitted that it was and made a payment. Another time, I made contact with customer who began cursing me out, including "G-D".

As I was concerned that I may have the wrong person, I asked him if he was still employed by Zion Baptist in **********" He said "yes, why"? I simply said "just wondering".

#59972

There must be a law against this type of harrassment. If the FTC is contacted will this help.

I think if you tell them that if they continue to call that you will contact the FTC because of their harrassing tactics.

Tell them that they are not to contact your references and to stop calling you. Tell them to send everything in the mail and that they are to cease with the harrassing phone calls.

Capitol One closed my acct. no forewarning!

I have been a Capitol One credit card holder for 12 years, and one day, out of the blue, I get a letter that says they have closed my account because I haven't used my card. Okay, yeah, it's been a few years since I've used it, but they could have at least sent me a notice or called and said if I don't use it within such and such time they will close it. A forewarning would have been nice!! After many phone calls to customer service agents and their supervisors, I finally called their headquarters (who once again directed me to a customer service area) and spoke with a manager who said I need to send a letter. Well, wish me luck reopening my account. I'm not sure I even want to give any more business to this company though!!
