To all complainants: We are all aware of the deviant business practices of Capital One; CapitalOne even refuses to identify their home offices and contact numbers, further shielding themselves from complaints and scrutiny. Capitol One Bank USA

A promised credit on the month that the purchase of airline tickets which were charged on December 14th and I was informed at the time of the purchase that a credit would appear immediately for the redeemed Rewards that I had saved for this purchase. The December came out last entry made on November 30th which did not show the credit promised ($709.90). After dealing with a number of assistences in the Phillipines that work for your company--they said they could not make the adjustment on this statement. A hardship is placed on me and I refuse to leave a balance that will be subjected to interest because of this.

They keep calling my cell phone. I do not have a credit card with them.

When I speak to them they say their records do not show my cell phone number.

They also say that it will be removed in 1 to 3 days. They have told me this three times now.

Guest

Paid off credit card but get a "Membership" Fee from Capital One...

Capital One is a scam. I have a card through Capital One that I dont use and has been paid off for sometime. I noticed in Dec that I had been charged a "Membership" Fee of $29 back in Sept. The card went 60 days diliquent before I noticed I had these "Membership" fees... needless to say I was hit with a 30 day diliquent to my credit and late fees for something I didn't even do... I called Capital One they said to call back once the account payment cleared and talk to them about getting the membership fee waived going forward but I'm stuck with a 30 day diliquent on my credit... This is ridiculous...

Cap One Payment Protection

I was laid off 8 months out of 2009 and had it not been for payment protection I would have drowned. Say what you will about them, they have been GREAT to me and my credit score. They paid promtly, left me alone other than the occasional "are you working yet" form letter. I didn't even know I had it until a Cap One Collector called me to advise at which time they (Payment Protection) not only paid the minimum but also the arrears and fees the month past and brought my account current. This service was a savior to me when I needed it most and I would recommend (especially in the day and age) everyone get it when opening any unsecured LOC. Don - Columbia, MD.

God Bless Capital One!!!

Beware of their business practices! They sent us to collections for an account less than 10 days past due and an oversight. As soon as I realized it I corrected it and two days later I received a letter demanding full payment. Well you know what they can do with their card and our other accounts that all are in good standing, well they lost another customer. Instead of working with their customers, they alienate them. Would love to know how much bailout money they took from the government and the people of the United States and of course they raised our interest rate to almost 30%.

Capital One Payroll- The Worst Payroll Company

Consistantly the systems are down. No one ever answers their help lines you have to leave messages. It has happened to us on two payroll days in the last month alone! It took them Friday Saturday Sunday and finally Monday we received a call! They don't work weekends or days after holidays or apparently the hours stated on their websites. Thanks to them our employees won't be able to Christmas shop today. No paychecks. No one available to help or answer questions either. It is not an inexpensive service - we will be looking for a different payroll company this week.

Captal One allows fraud, tries to come after you

I never had a Capital One credit card. When I found out about it, I sent them everything, including a police report. Never heard a word out of them for over 5 years, and then boom, I'm served with court papers. They can allow someone to use your name, and expect you to pay for it. There's something terribly with this, they are CROOKS. I've supplied them with everything i have that proves i'm not this person, they just keep it up. The other company that this person did this with, was very understanding, and aleast tried to work with us, and in the end found they were wrong, and at fault.

Capital One is horrible.

I got a letter from Citibank about going up on my interest and they were closing my MC account after it is paid out (I have perfect credit with them). I decided to get a Capital One card and close the MC account. I decided to transfer my MC balance to Capital One at a lower interest rate. After making that mistake and realizing after reading how horrible Capital One is to do business with, I decided I would not activate the card when I got it. Get this: They transferred the balance from my MC account BEFORE I even got the card or activated it PLUS they transferred a larger amount than was even owed on the MC account. I am one angry gal.

They put there annual fee and went over my limint and charged me $39.00 a month for over limit fees

They charged me a $39.00 over limit fee every month because they put there annual fees and I went over the limit I pay every month the amount they said and I am charged a over limit fee of $39.00 which is more then my monthly payment. I think they are tring to rake in as much money as they can from us.Know I am over the limit by $200.00 because of this and I can't get caught up. I think because they put the annual fees on this orignaly I should not pay the over limit fees every month my account was not over the limit.

yes i had a very bad experience with this lady esha kshoiker too, has no respect for the customer and is totally incompetent. She is a bad idea to keep for capital one.

Guest

very bad experinece with customer service including my local branch managrs like esha kshoikeri who did not even know how to put us in touch with customer care. make you run to the bank everytime and have very poor online services. avoid this bank totally.

Guest

By the way, how can an ANNUAL fee be put on MONTHLY?

You're a ***, and you're either lying or completely lost.

Guest

I work for CapitalOne as a contracted agent and I'll tell you right now you don't know what your situation is; membership fees that bring you over your limit do not incur a OL fee. We explain that in your Terms & Consitions (that you had to sign off on in order to use your card), so you obviously don't read the rules first either.

CapOne has shady business practices; they sit on payments as described in our Payment Disclosure ("Capital One reserves the right to hold funds based on account status or history..."), among many others.

However, I can say with complete confidence that more than half of the "complaints" people put up about CapOne is because they a) don't bother reading the rules that we are required by law to share with you, or b) your knee *** anti-credit card reactions get you all in a tizz and you'd rather be pissed off than work with us.

Not our problem.

Don't like/can't handle a credit card? Don't *** apply for one!

Guest

Screw them....file for Bankrupcy and tell them to go to ***. The banks in the US are run by idiots.

Millions of Americans are just hanging on and the *** credit card bankers want to extract exorbinant penalties and fees, which will push the rest of us over the edge.

So give them what they deserve...don't pay at all and maybe that will learn 'em. Perhaps they can just keep the millions of "retention" bonuses dollars and hire new people with better and more realistist customer service sense.

Guest

I can tell you're not an *** by your comment. Are you asking US if you know how to pay your bills? Just because you OPEN your statement doesn't mean you READ it.

As far as the membership fee causing you to go over the limit....how about you leave some more room on your balance, so that when that fee that posts the SAME TIME EVERY YEAR gets assessed, it won't push you over your credit limit! Ah! Genius!

There really should be a test people should have to pass before being approved for credit cards.

Guest

I'm not a *** snd I open my statement EVERY MONTH!!!!! I was not over my limit and I always pay on time.

I AM NOT A *** AND I KNOW HOW TO PAY MY BILLS?????

I WORK WITH MONEY EVERY DAY. SO FOR ALL YOU YOU IDIOTS STICK IT.

Guest

I suggest you read your statements not go by what they tell you that you owe. It ain't their fault that you do not bother to open you statements and check what your balance is.

Guest

You sound like a real ***. Why do you even have a credit card if you're going to be maxed out and only pay the minimum payment?

And you don't even call to inquire about your problem? God some people.

Guest

same issue lowered my limit added annual fee,now in major penalty box collection w/outrages penalty, have good pay standings since years of good payment history.can someone help !

Capital One raised interest twice now in 2 mos.

So you talked to a customer service person and was told it was something in your credit report. Not true! The upper management of these banks are scaling down what they determime as risk accounts. Risk accounts are classified by non interest earning, high limits paying the minimums and non preforming accounts ( by thier standards). Calling the banks does no good. Mail a letter (not email) to Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman of the Banking Committee. Tell him you are sending money to his primary opponent next spring and asking your friends to also. Letters get attention! Mail to U S Capital Bldg.

That is a real good idea. I like mine as well. I had a card through them as well as one other "sub prime" company due to the fact that I had medical bills in six figures due to an illegal alien who couldn't be bothered with either a licence,or insurance, who had just a LEEEETLE bit too much cervesa, ran a red light, and almost killed my sweetie pie.

After holding the cards for a year and always paying them off as soon as I got my 100% V.A. disability pension check, I asked them if I could get the outrageously low credit limits raised to something that was useful, and both company's, Capitol One was one, and HSBC the other, both told me to go to ***.

So I just stopped paying them, and told THEM to go there first.

Being 100% disabled, my checks are non-assessable by U.S. law, so I use their lame threat letters to start my gas cookstove.

DON'T try this if they can come after you, but I own nothing worth their trouble of taking, it would cost them FAR more than they could EVER get, and I can't work. Brie

Capitol One Rip-Off

I Agree ! Capitol One is ripping us off and the Government needs to do something now!@!!!! They jacked up my credit card rate from 7.9% to 17.9%. I'm sure they're doing this becuase of the state of the economy and the fact that the average person isn't spending money. That doesn't make it right and something needs to be done NOW! It;s B.S. that they think it's OK. If anyone else is being Screwed by this bank, PLEASE post it. The only way we're going to change things is if people grow the b---s and speak up. SCrew the banks! Capital One, increased up my credit card rate from 7.9% to 17.9%. This I heard is a common practice to lock consumers into the *** of no return, as the drain every single dime.

The first month I discovered this, I paid my account off in full. This was over 10,000... I had this luxury, but sadly this fraudulent act is done to many who don't have this kind of cash-flow.

After, I paid it off in full, I ask them to refund the difference between the two rate cause I was not aware of the rate increase since I had been an excellent consumer. What was very telling, is the refusal. What was clear is their action did exactly what it was intended to do!

Shake me down for extra money!

On another note.. I used one of the (0) zero interest checks, only to discovered after tow months that instead of (o)zero rate, they charged me at the rate of 18%, along with charging a transaction fee.

As far as I'm concerned, Capital One is at the top of the fraudulent credit companies in the world!

I for one, have cancelled my credit with them and will never use them ever!!!!

Warn your friends and loved ones, before it's too late!

Guest

Totally agree. Not only with their cards but also their banking.

The customer service is super horrible and they purposefully hold on to my deposits to earn more money on interest rather than pay pending charges in my account.

they do not value their customers or their employees. The only thing they value is money, and they do so at your expense.

Guest

*** them max the card and screw capital one dont pay. They will learn a lesson for be a rip off company. :p

Credit cards are out to make money. If you can't pay the monthly balance, then STOP charging items on it!!

I have a credit card with a 19% interest, but I pay off the balance EVERY month!!

Guest

:( I had my card for over a year before I activated it.Was out of work due to injuries so had to use it.Always paid but one time being late my bill went from $25 one month to $300 the next.I received 10-15 calls a day.I tried talking to them and worked out a plan but they only kept charging me fees upon fees which put me over the limit and then stopped getting bills..then out of nowhere without warning I get a letter from my local court that they are suing me and have a court date.My bill was only a little over $700 to begin with...now they are saying I owe over $2500 And havent used the card..Ive not been to court yet and really dont know how to deal with this considering due to disabilities Ive still not returned to work..I feel for anyone who has had to deal with Capitol ONe

Guest

I fell for their 0% cash transfer offer for 12 month. When I got my first bill, they charged me 300 in interest.

When I called them they said that I had missed the deadline for the offer. When I told then I had the offer letter and the cancelled check that showed that I did not miss the deadline, I was tansferred to 8 different people. Finally I just hung-up. I then send them a check paying off the loan and included the 300 dollars in interest.

I then received another bull for 750 dollars for a "loan processing fee". How can these get away with this???

Next time they ask you "What's in you wallet? answer "you can bet your @##@#@ i's not you".

Guest

I work with Capital One Bank. They cut down on our hours, so there is always a huge line of customers in the bank.

Customers are always complaining about the line.

Capital One production has decreased because they don't really care about thier customers or employees. They faced a deficit in revenue until they merged with Chevy Chase Bank.

Guest

They really put the screws to me. I had a loss of income.

I called them to try and work a deal with them. They finally after two months and late fees decided to work with me. Then three months later they decided to charge the account off due to they said it was 5 months late. What the heck happened to the three payments I gave them.

Now they want double the monthly payment that I had to beigin with. I paid them on time except for two payments.

They are a rip off company and guess what I will just have to bend over and take it. The laws on on the side of these people.

Guest

I called in a payment last week and recieved a phone call today notifing me i was turned into collection for non payment. i had payment arrangement set up for this past friday but called in a few days before and made my payment.

So i argued that with 3 different people well now they say my card had an error, kinda funny it works for all our other bills except them. what a joke. i also recieved an email stating if i made a payment before march 10th i wouldnt fall into collection well today is the 2nd and i was turned in last week. i would never advise this company to anyone they are rip offs.

my rate also went up and my limit i set was $500 its now over $700 due to their interest rates.

rediculous. i have good credit as well, due to being cut back on hours at work i was a payment late, but um $200 is way far fetched for late fees and such.

Am being penalized for family members credit card on my credit report

Capital One put a family members info on my credit report. They listed me as an authorized user without my permission. Originally my son had asked if it would be okay for his mom to take and relay info regarding his account while he was at work. They then put me down as a user thus when payments were late it went on my credit report and I had my score drop 57 pts. I never signed anything either. It's too easy for these companies to ruin your life, where are my rights in this? This will take months to straighten out I'm sure.

Capital One calls and calls but then won't speak to you

My son is in the Army and is deployed to Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division. He has a Capital One credit card which he foolishly put his new wife on as a user. His wife is just spending the money and running up the bills and she even got her phone cut off. Capital One's call center in India calls here every day just after 8 AM and ask for him. I have repeatedly told them that he is deployed in Afghanistan and only has intermittent contact with us. Once, one of the Indians gave me a fax number to send a copy of his orders to and a number to call the unit that takes care of service members who are deployed, which my wife did that night. After she faxed the papers, she called the number, but the person on the other end refused to speak to her because she didn't have power of attorney for him. That was 2 weeks ago. They still call every morning. This morning I told the man that called that he was closer to my son than I was, why didn't he go to Afghanistan and collect the money himself. He asked for my son's Afghanistan phone number!

Capital One trial subscriptions

Several years ago I signed up for a Capital One credit card. They actually sent me two...one with several trial subscriptions with it. When it came time to cancel all the trials (I should have done it right away!) I was in the hospital. I had a low credit limit, and the subscriptions that were charged to my account put me over that limit. So I was left with a maxed out credit card and over the limit fees. I called and wrote letters and they refused to reverse the charges. When I finally was able to pay the card off, I sent the check directly to their CEO with a nasty letter.

Capital One- The Preditory Lender

I have been customer of Capital One for years. I always paid my bills on time and always in excess of the minimum payments. Originally I got sucked in by one of those 0% teaser rates. I knew my rate would go up a few points at some time in the future however; I had no clue that this company would later, suddenly significantly increase my rate by 7 percent in a month. Over the years and months Capital One kept raising my rates a little bit at a time. Last month it had reached a peak rate of around 10 plus percent. On my last bill, this company raised my rate 7 percent to 17.9%. I must've talked to 6 or 7 customer service agents in 3 different countries (India, Canada and US). None of these customer service agents could tell me specifically "why" my rate was significantly increased. All of their standard, programmed answers were "because of the economic crisis". Not only could they not tell my why my specific rate was increased so dramatically, they added that some customers had their rates increased to over 30% (like that was going to make me feel better!). I was "floored". I immediately got online and paid off my $4.3k balance and cut up my card. I'll NEVER do business with Capital One again and will never recommend this company to anybody. These are obvioiusly preditory business practices and the customer service personnel were "clueless".

for all you *** holes who are writing about spelling and that kind of nonsense please save you comments for another forum...people here are upset looking to vent and find help out there some where. We dont need your *** remarks on spelling or if you think someone should have a card! I am sorry but shut up and save your narcissism for someone else we really dont care how smart you think you are.

Guest

"Spelled," not spelt. Spelt is a grain.

Guest

for Brie, you may be diabled, but they can still sue, put a judgment on your credit and a lien against anything you own ( your home). I work for national finance co and we do it when we sue.

I also had to refi someone home about 4 months ago and pay off 2 liens against her home that were put on their by credit card co that was not paid. It will destroy your credit also.

Guest

It's happened to plenty of people. Post your complaints on Yelp (search for Capital One in McLean, VA). I'm hoping to get critical mass there so they know they're ruining their relationships.

Guest

I have been a Capital One customer for over twelve years both personnal and business credit cards. I have always payed the balance each month.

I knew when i received the change in terms flyer last month that this was going top be their tactics. Sure as he** I just recieved anotice that my new interest rate was going up for the fourth bull*&^% reason. They claimed I had been late by two days for the second time this year. That is funny because I have always written the check each day that I received the statement.

The games they play. NO PROBLEMO! I cancelled mine,my business and my wifes TODAY. We have been paying down all debts including cars.

Sears has been begging me to return with their cards, offers and what not for thirty years. Capital One just joined that cataegory along with Chase. They changed up the terms and invoice mailings (now instead of monthly our car payment invoices are irratically quarterly) Now for the first time in time in three years, I am late with them. Funny Ford didn't change their monthly mailings or play games their payments are on time and FORD is the only one still profitable.

A Crook is a Crook no matter how you disguise it, What goes around comes around. These crooked big businesses will get theirs in due time.

Guest

All these credit card companies are a rip, us cash.

Guest

I was a cardholder before the "economic crisis" and

after a year of paying my monthlybalance off every month

early, I asked if I could get my credit limit raised from the almost useless

250 dollars that I was originally given. They flat out told me no, so I flat

out cut up the card, and "forgot" to pay off the balance. I am 100% Va

Disabled, so they can't garnish my checks. After the "crisis" hit all these

greedy preditors, I have laughed myself to sleep every night, they wound

up killing the "geese" that were collectively laying the golden egg. GOOD!!!

Guest

Your joking right. Peolple who don't understand basic lending should not own a credit card!! If the risk of lending becomes great the cost of borrowing increases!!!

Guest

Just a note to the *** that defends Capitol one's rip off. *** is always spelt with an A and, you sure seem to be one!
