Venture card will make you pay for fraudulent charges

Updated by user Mar 03, 2023

Capital One said that I am responsible for the fraudulent charges and I had to pay over $1,000. I cancelled my cards with them.

I have had these cards for years and have made thousands of purchases with them.

I did not make the purchases in question. Capital One...

I had a Capital One Venture Card. I noticed that over one thousand dollars was charged to my card over two days. I did not make any of these purchases. Oddly, I had my card with me. I can only assume that somehow, the card was copied. The charges were made across a few stores. At some stores, they made two purchases back to back for $300 each. The fraud department said that my card was used so I was responsible. I was punished for not lying. I could have said I lost my card or it was stolen, but the truth was I had my card. I know how this looks, but I did not make any of these purchases nor was I near the area where these purchases were made. The fraud department is inept and unhelpful. Two purchases were made back to back at a BJs. These purchases have to be linked to someone's BJ's account. They never looked into it. I tried, but could not get any information from BJ's. I have had this card for years and it is linked to many of my accounts. I have made many purchases on this card. Now I have to pay $1,000 for fraudulent purchases and I cancelled my card. Capital One couldn't care less.

I would fight that fraudulent charge. So easy: have them provide you the signature on the card on the receipt, and forces them to tell you whether its yours or not.

Also, if the charges were in areas far away from your home, that's another point in your favor. Finally, file a complaint with the Federal agency that regulates banks. I plan to do so for my issues.

Lastly, send them at their billing address a certified letter contesting the bill along with a certiifed copy to their CEO and his entire board stating the same, so that when they decide to charge off that "bill" and hit you with a 1099 form for the charge off, you can include that letter in your tax filing with the IRS disputing that $1000 they are going to make a taxable revenue. In plain English, Capital One suchs!

Late Fees Assessed

Capital One has charged me late fees for a payment that was paid a week in advance of its due date. I cannot get in contact with a live person to get the matter straightened out. Each time I call, their phone disconnects after you sit through all the prompts. I had no problems getting in touch with them via this same number when I was coordinating my payment schedule. This is ridiculous and their service sucks.
