Capital One in Santa Clara, California - CC Account deactivated because of "fraud" activity - now asking for SSN, DL and utility bill copies !!

1.0
Details
Capital One seems to be the biggest identity thief. For some weired reason, they deactivated my Credit Card Account saying that there was a "Fraud" alert. Why would this happen- I have no idea. But it happend and suddenly. They couldn't give me a reason for this to me. I called them and they asked me several questions - mother's maiden name, ssn, address, phone no, etc. etc. Even after answering everything at last they say that they can't verify my identity and so now I need to send them a copy of my Social Security Number, Driver's License and a utility bill ! I didn't give them this information even while applying for the card, and now they want a copy of all of these ! No thank you, I am not giving away my identity so easily to the identity thief Capital One !! I have had a checking account with them for 8 years now but I think it is time for me to rethink !

You are an ***. IF someone had used your card fraudulently, I'm pretty sure you'd be blaming them for that too.

Every credit card company is bound by rules and regulations. They ask you to verify your identity to make sure you are who you say you are.

Should this account have been opened by someone using your info, wouldn't you want Capital One to request such info? Or would be you on this forum complaining about how capital one didn't protect your security?

Capital One in Walnut Creek, California - Lack of replacement card

I was notified on October 3rd that my Capital one card was comprinized in a fraudulent card hacking scheme. After considerable time on phone and being transfered countless times. I finally was transfered to a (customer fraud superviser specialist) from where else India? I pleaded with him not to deactivate my card because I was out of state on vacation and needed my card for expenseses. He promised me I would receive my new card by October 4th or 5th. Long story short I never received my replacement card, thank God I was not overseas. When I called to cancel my account I never got an apology nor did they say they were sorry. I found customer service at Capital One to be nothing but a nightmare with incompatent people who had no idea of what was going on. It is in my opinion that is best to stay away from this credit card company. They are not looking out for the card holder nor do they seem to care.

An apology? Lets break this down, Capital One stopped fraudulent activity on your account (changed card number to prevent more charges from an unknown source).

They could have let the fraudsters continue to use your credit. You should be thanking them for taking control of this. Now, I've been there.... it takes about a week to receive a replacement card.

Once said card leaves capital one, its on the hands of the usps. We all know mistakes happen there. Capital one took care of you. They can't make a new card appear out of thin air.

Its a process and many people go through it everyday. For you to close your account for something beyond their control, you don't deserve an apology. They should celebrate.

What's next... I used my card online (over the phone, caught by a skimmer, went to home Depot )and was hacked, you OWE me?

Capital One FRAUD ALERT

1.0
Details
About 3 weeks ago I learned that my Capital One account had been frozen for suspected fraudulent activity. I called the fraud department and have been run around in circles ever since. This matter is still unresolved going on three plus weeks. I was told that I needed to send in a copy of my driver's license, social security card, and proof of residence (I.e. a utility bill). Sent in the information they requested and the first time they were fairly timely in responding, but only to tell me my gas bill was no good. Since then I have sent in a mortgage bill, a bank statement and a water bill. And with each item submitted absolutely no follow up from Capital One. I have had to call them each time, sit on hold for what is now hours, only to be told that the document I sent in was not good enough. The reason why they wouldn't accept each document has changed with each person I have spoken with. This has reached the point of insanity with Capital One. They apparently have very stringent rules and requirements which they don't bother to communicate to their customers. I was more than happy to provide them what they have requested, and they still don't believe I live where I do despite having in their hands a gas bill, mortgage bill, bank statement, and water bill. I am running out of bills to send them and I suspect this will never get resolved. When and if it ever is resolved I will be closing my account and never doing business with them again. Terrible service. The worst I have experienced with any financial institution.

Capital One - Who doesn't LOVE repetitive robo calls that hang up in your ear?

1.0
Details
I get at least 4 robo calls a day from Capital One. Each and every one of them hangs up as soon as I answer. They know I do not tolerate these non stop calls and I made it quite clear that when we tell them what date we will pay, do NOT call my house every single day before that date or I will blow out an ear drum with my whistle. SO they decided to put me on the robo caller. I get calls that are automated robots that either hang up on me the second I say a word OR they just go on and on and on and as soon as I hang up, you got it, I get another call! Also, am I the ONLY one that notices that I can go all day without making or receiving a call, then the second a call is made to or from my phone they start calling? It feels like they are monitoring my phone activity to be sure to call when someone is home accepting or making calls. I am willing to bet they are using some kind of software that allows them to monitor this activity. Bad business, Capital One, Bad Business.

Incompetent Customer Service Review

Capital one has incompetent customer service! They have no idea how to do their job, even the supervisors! Not to mention, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! They blabber on about nothing instead of getting right down to the issue and fixing it! I have so many complaints about this company but it's WAY too much to list!! Searching for a better bank!!!!!!

Capital One in Litchfield Park, Arizona - Capitol one auto finance scam

I financed a vehicle with capitol one auto finance Aug 2010. I got a 2010 Chevy Malibu that was 15,000. I put down 5,000 so my payment would be 370.00 every month. I pay every month on time. I even change my date to pay so 6 of the month to the 20th of the month. All of a sudden I started receiving emails saying thank you for your payment of 500.00. I called and said I never made a payment they told a payment was made. 2 months later I was behind 3 payments. I was told to pay 1,200 to bring account current. Now I make payments every month they say I am still behind 2 payments. Now its been 4 yrs. and they say I still owe 13,000. WOW HOW So Think vehicle 15,000 you purchase you make payments of 370.00 for 36 months How much should you still owe on your car. Yes Thank You I still owe 13,000 4 yrs. later. Now my car is getting hit with every recall you can think of its not even safe to drive. Your story doesn't even make sense...

Why would the lender email and say thank you for your payment? Are you talking about the confirmations?

Capital One in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Fraud

I called to ask about my mother's account since she had passed. One rep told me "We can submit an application for the lien release since she died. I will call you back with further information. My name is Adam." When I call back, no one knows an Adam and the information he gave me was inaccurate. From a balance of $534 it had magically turned into $5,514. They are unethical liars. Whose only interest is to help themselves and not the customer. For three years since her death, they had no interest in an old car with a lien but all of a sudden after I call they have huge interest in the car. The leave people on hold to scheme. They don't give you any access to the account information after having the required death certificate and documents. It's policy is fraudulent and untrustworthy.

If no payment was made for 3 years after your mom passed, wouldn't you think they would have repo the car long time ago??

Capital One - Account Specialist Review

I have a complaint against capital one auto finance. I called in on Thursday September 4, 2014 around 6:15am my time. I spoke with a customer service rep by the name of David, I told him that I needed to change my scheduled payment from September 5 to September 19 due to financial hardship, he told me he would have to get an acct specialist on the phone which I spoke with a Katie. She was able to help me. When we were getting ready to hang up, Katie the account specialist did not hang her phone up so I ended up over hearing David the customer service rep telling Katie that he thinks I am lying about my financial hardship situation. These were his exact words to Katie... "I think she's lying" and I was shocked...I hung up my phone and regained my composure and I called back and ended up getting David and I gave him a peace of my mind and told him that I was going to file a complaint. Wow I see how they think and talk about us customers.
