Capital One credit card "Venture"

1.0
Details
They advertise "...get double mileage for every $ spent... good on any airline..." Too good to be true: Yes. Their manager gave me an example: Step 1 your Purchase a ticket from ABC Airline for $1,000 and you pay with real $$ Step 2 Capital One reimburses you $ 1,000 and subtracts 100,000 miles from your account - provided that you have accumulated 100,000 or more with your prior purchases or $50,000 or more. Formula :$ x 100 Note that the ABC Airline could be charging 20,000 miles if you use their mileage. The above is based on my telephone conversation with their company :800-227-4825

So much to say here. But i won't.

Had you done research and also realized capitalone isn't an airline....you would know "miles" is just what they call them. They aren't actually how many miles you've traveled. They are a $ figure. If i had 50000, id have $500 to use towards my travel purchased with my card.

Easy math.

Capital One - Payment Problem Review from Collierville, Tennessee

Hello, I purchased my SUV in Feb 2014 and put $5k as a down payment so that I had a car payment around $300 a month. My 1st payment wasn't due until April 29th 2014. In March 2014 I received a statement that had a payment that was made for $520.00. Now keep in mind that my 1st payment wasn't due until April 29, 2014. I reached out to as soon as I received the letter to ensure what I was reading was correct. I was told by 3 different reps that my 1st payment had been made at a local Capital One branch for $520.00 and that I was caught up until May 2014 and that another statement would go out with the balance at that time. I went on about my business and made all my payments on my due date or sooner. On Aug 22nd I received a letter in the mail Notice of Intent, so I called immediately to speak with someone about the letter. They told me I owed $840.00 and that I was past due... I explained that I always make my payments with my debit card every month, finally I asked for a supervisor and spoke to Jeff. He explained that it was their " Capital Ones" fault and that the branch misapplied a payment back in March 2014 which reversed all my payments and that I'm due for 2 months... I told him that's not my fault and that this must get resolved and that I could see if I misapplied a payment but this is on their company. I just need so help with how to resolve this issue or I'll be happy with my $5k refund that I used as a down payment back if they cannot get this resolved. And their talking about picking up my car? But I've made all my payments, they should be willing to do more. I did my due diligence in the beginning once I notice a payment was made and it was not by me. All my funds are allocated for each month, I don't have extra funds if someone else screws up.

So you knew they made a mistake but you didn't continue to make your regular payments, and now it's their fault?

Capital One in Chicago, Illinois - Settlement paid 9 years ago but judgement against credit stands

Paid agreed amount for settlement in 2005. 2014 learned judgement listed against property. Selling property now, but Capital One states they must follow process. Nine years, of wrongful judgement remains on credit and property. NO ONE CAN HELP. YOU CANNOT SPEAK TO ATTORNEY WHO HANDLES JUDGEMENT. THE PROCESS CAN TAKE 5- 30 DAYS> IT IS THE ATTORNEY's DIGRESSION. When judgement was paid why didn't Capital One follow their process to clear the judgement? WHY SHOULD CUSTOMER PAY FOR CAPITOL ONE's POOR PROCESSES? Nine years waiting, they read from a script . My Wish is that all of there management or Capitol One has a lien wrongfully placed on assets and be told to wait 30 days for attorney, legal or court to remove lien. Freezing their assets and damaging credit.

Please do a little research on how credit cards work before placing a review -- and making yourself sound like a fool.

All credit cards charge "residual interest" which is defined as: Residual interest can confuse credit card customers who think they have paid their balances in full only to get a new bill for additional interest owed.

Cardholders who do not carry a balance do not accrue residual interest; they receive a grace period between the time they receive their bills and the time they pay them. No interest accrues during the grace period.

Residual interest accrues when your credit card issuer charges interest during the period between when your statement is issued and the date you pay your bill. That means that unless you call your credit card company and ask exactly how much it will cost to pay your bill in full on the date you expect your payment to arrive -- the so-called "final payoff amount" -- you will still owe interest on your next bill, even if you make no further purchases with your card.

This happens to consumers who keep a balance on their cards. If you pay off your balance at the end of each billing cycle, you won't pay any interest.

However, if you fail to pay off your balance in a given month, that's when residual interest can rear its ugly head.

So, yes, you paid off your bill in full..

But you were most likely carrying a balance from the previous months. It CAN take up to two billing statements to stop seeing interest charges.

Capital One - Pre-Approved offers

I am retired and living on a very fixed income. $1,500.00 a month. I have big bills Mortgage, Bank, Sessoms & Rogers, electrical, water/sewer, food, medicine. Please explain to me how you think I can afford to have another credit card when I have a very hard time each month making ends meet. If you have a real suggestion as to how I can handle all these bills that would take a load off my mind. I worked for 30 years before retiring. I thought I could manange my money. Ha, Ha, fooly of me. I am a 67 year old woman who should be enjoying my retirement, but due to my foolishness (there I've said I am responsible). But I think I deserve a break like all the people who didn't work. Thanks. I don't want to owe you anything but this was all I could find to get in touch with you.

Capital One Messedup my credit on the payment already made

I got an Infinity G3 through Capital one auto finance. Unfortunately, the car was totaled due to flood. My insurance payed what the car what at the time while i was left with 2000+. First, they were never ready to let go that amount nor ready to negotiate. They instead threatened me to mess up my credit. I told them I will pay installment in which i paid and eventually paid it off. Now its still showing unpaid, 303 days late and on the negative side of my credit. They indeed has messed up my credit even after paying the money off. I really need help to communicate this unruly act I need capital one to look through my account and do the needful by reporting the account paid off, put it on the positive side and send an apology letter for my troubles.

First of all, you can get Gap insurance from most Insurance companies, If Cap 1 gave you the total amt to purchase your car then I'm sure they just want there money back. Responsibility of the buyer is the key, and the first thing to accept when making a major purchase.

It is not the Lenders fault weather cap 1 or any other bank who make loans to consumers that you car was destroyed, and they should not have to take a bath on the loan due to the a persons lack of responsibility when making such a large purchase. Banks are in business to make money not to write it off/lose money. I am truly sorry for what happen to you but the blame game must STOP! Responsibility is the key here.

have used cap 1 in past 2x's never had one problem with them you either accept their offer or you don't plain and simple! But stop blaming others for your lack of business/ownership responsibility!

This guy is either a clown or just simply clueless. You borrowed money to buy a car, that seems overpriced.

You were in a crash, the insurance will only pay what the car was worth and you are mad at your lender for asking you to pay up what was left on your loan.

Please get real. In this instance Capital One is in the right.

As someone who actually does work for Capital One, in the heavy spend dept. I can agree with the person who posted below...

Only if you have a credit card with a limit below 10k. At that point, you are routed to "core" agents. These people handle 50-100 calls a day. They deal with card holders who are legitimately building credit.

But, as with any dept within capital one, I believe its safe to say about 70% of all card holders are incredibly rude. Clearly, most customers have never heard "you get more flies with honey". If you are lucky enough to speak to someone in Tampa, they pretty much have the power to waive all fees.... If you are nice.

We are humans. Have a little respect for the person on the other line. Don't make demands, simply ask for what you want in a polite manner. 9 out of 10 times, (depending on the request..

waive late fees, interest, amf..) we will be more than willing to help you. And please, I beg you for my own sanity.... try to figure out issues for yourself first... enroll online..

you can see statements, current charges/credits, create travel notifications, make payments and set up alerts. DONT call me and request the phone number of the hair salon you visited 2 months ago (yes, that happens).. Do call if you don't recognize a charge AND you have already researched the company and/or called them FIRST. No, I can't just remove a charge from your account because you changed your mind..

I can enter a dispute and perform and investigation... But these things take time. If you have fraud charges, we NEED to change your card number for security reasons. You do have 0 fraud liability but we will call the company with you first just to verify what the charge was for.

Roughly, 65% of the people who believe they have been compromised, realize the charge is legitimate and thank us for our times. We like being addressed by our names and being told Thank you. We respect you by calling you Mr/Ms. We listen to you and genuinely wish to help...

If you aren't screaming at us. We can't and wont help if you don't let us explain what we CAN do for you. I'm sure there are agents who aren't as friendly as you believe they should be. But how would you feel, if your previous customer called and immediately started belittling you.

Many customers use foul language and make outlandish demands. Rarely do we hear a rational person on the phone. I know it's stressing when it comes to dealing with credit and money..... we have the same issues in our personal lives.

If you take a deep breath and put a smile on your face.....

Your problem will mostly likely be solved right away. If not, we will go the extra mile to solve the problem WITH you.

Your story doesn't even make sense. Last I checked, there isn't an adjustable loan offered on auto finance.

They're all simple interest loans.

If no late payments occurred, payoff amount will only go down as time progress.
