Capital One in Boston, Massachusetts - Very bad experience
I am in USA for 3 weeks and got my SS#, I have no history and applied for Capital One. Their customer service in chat suggested Capital One Cash Rewards for Newcomers Credit Card -http://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/cash-rewards-for-newcomers I have a good income and applied for it, in 20 seconds system declined it. THEY DID NOT CHECK ANY INCOME OR EMPLOYMENT BUT THEY REPORTED IT TO all 3 bureaus!!! I was escalated to 3 managers in their customer service which was completely poor and unhelpful. But in the end I am screwed up!! One of their managers offered to apply for their secured cards which has annual fee , it answers my question. they just make such card advertisement for attracting people to secured cards!!! They screwed my credit history which I wanted to start in US with them, their service is so poor, what I can do know. The only thing is go to court.
First, I have been a GM Card holder for years and then comes Capitol One. They merge, buy out or something along that line. Now its Capitol One/GM Card. I have always paid my bills on time, pay using my financial institutions electronic pay method (have for years). ...
Capital One in New York, New York - Froze my line of credit
When CapitalOne bought out North Fork I was assured nothing would change. I had a line of credit for years that was cancelled by CapitalOne because they didn't like that I wasn't paying down. I thought banks made money by lending. My credit rating is 800 so there is no problem. I have called and e-mailed the officer that made this decision for an explanation but have never been favored with a response. To make matters worse I must receive 2-3 mailing from them to borrow money. Since I am retired and living on a fixed income the burden of paying down the line of credit at what was $10,000 per month is a hardship.
Capital one is losing !
Its about 3 years that I have capital one credit card and the credit limit is $750. Now after 3 years I asked them to increase my credit limit, but their response was a negative answer to me ! they told me that they can not increase the limit ! I told them why? even I talked to 3 different people in this company (A rep. a supervisor and a manager) but there was not a specific reason for their action. as far as I remember always I was on time to pay my bills and even other payments (other credit cards) I did the same. so, this shows that something wrong in their system and they can not make a right decision. I do not recommend this credit card company. There are better credit card companies that they may have a better a service for you.For sure they are loser and they can not compete with other credit companies. . Stay away from Capital one. Have a great day!
I just spoke with a customer service rep by the name of "jay" with the id number of "jwk"( if that even was his real number and name! Back in march our car got repossessed on a fri or sat night and we called monday to get all fees for our car, we were able to get that...
Capital One in San Francisco, California - Most frustrating customer service
We had used our Capitol One credit card for a few years with no significant issues. When we attempted to use it to pay for a meal, it was declined. When we attempted to find out the problem (or any other information about the account), we would be transferred to a "fraud" representative. The "fraud" representatives were extremely rude and unhelpful. They would first say that they would help us, but then they would provide no information on the problem. We are still trying to close the account, but the account never gets closed. We still have no clue what caused the problem or why it is not being addressed. I would not recommend a Capitol One credit card to anyone, especially if you expect helpful customer service representatives. As far as I know, we have not yet lost any money because of this, but we have wasted a great deal of time and energy.
After making arrangements to pay for my van which was only two months behind, a repo man showed up. He must have been following me because I parked my van and walked inside my place of employment ON THE PHONE WITH CAPITOL ONE ALREADY and JUST FINISHING UP when about 5...

Capital One in Newark, New Jersey - Capitol One... Who's in your call center!?!
I contacted capitol one today to try to lower my interest rate, which had just gone up for some reason. I was transferred to someone obviously not from this country. Although very difficult to understand him I provided all the acct details. He then asked me for a password.... I have a password for on-line banking but not for the phone I told him .. He then placed me on an extended hold. Another employee came on from the fraud department, again asking for a password... I still don't have one I said.. All I am trying to do is lower my interest rate, and it was becoming a federal offense!~!! I only wish someone would *** my credit card info and lower my interest rate for me!!!! How awesome would life be!!! I think that this is absolutely ridiculous of them not to allow someone to lower the rate with out a password. When did this start? Is this something new to make it more difficult for people to do this to their accounts. I am so going to cancel both of my capitol one accounts. Hey capitol one, hire some Americans!!!
