BEWARE OF CAPITAL ONE - AVOID THEIR CREDIT CARD

I contacted Capital One in April to close my credit card since I did not receive any rewards or advantages. I had given them $2000 as a security deposit to increase my credit line. I paid in full each month the credit card charges. When I closed my account, they told me it would take 60 days for them to give me my money back. I told them that was unacceptable. I still have not received the check even though the representative said that it was sent April 19th. Instead of sending the check they sent a statement. Now they say that the check was lost in the mail and that a new procedure must be put in place in order to send out another one. They were unable to tell me how long this process will take. This is theft. If you do not have the time to hound them, you will never get your money back. From this experience, I recommend that no one use their credit card services. They are thieves.

Will never sign up for Capital One merchant services

In this time and age when competition is high and new comers don't lock you in contracts, we got scammed into Capital One's 3 years contacts. For 3 years they charged us one of the highest rate due to hidden charges that they did not disclose to us at the time of signing. After 3 years we felt reveled and moved to another company but Capital 1 started to bill $120 a month while we were not using their services. We found out that even after 3 years Capital One sign you in automatic yearly contract if you don't call them and request not to add another year's of contact. They charged us $750 on top of that to get out of contract. Please do not sign for Capital One unless you want to suffocate your finance.

I agree... I have never dealt with a more UN-professional organization than them.

By the way you can't call to cancel you have to put it in writing. After they hit me for the additional one year contract without notice and increased my rates, they charge you $250.00 to cancel your contract. I wanted to choose to keep the account open and wait until my contract ended but they told me since I signed up with another provider they would charge my account anyway.

My biggest problem with them is that they decided out of the blue to short one of my deposits by 1K after they auto renewed my contract.

This cause me to overdraft my account. I have now learned they will keep the 1K for 10 months before returning it saying it's insurance in case one of my charges comes back.

CAPITAL ONE Poor customer service, poor travel company

Capital One’s inflexible policies and poor customer service ruined our trip. Capital One’s travel service did not help us make connecting flights, did not help us adjust our reservations when airplane mechanical issues delayed our flight and caused us to stay overnight in Denver, and actually canceled our car rental and hotel reservations when we told them we would be a day late. They did not call us with updates and information even though we told them on the phone that we did not have email access and would not receive updates except by phone call or text message. We missed the wedding completely and felt mistreated, misinformed, and misled every time we tried to work with Capital One. A Friday flight to Texas to attend a Saturday wedding was delayed by airplane mechanical problems. We had to spend the night in Denver. The airline took great care of us automatically taking care of hotel, food, rescheduled flight, and vouchers for future travel. Then we called Capital One. We explained our situation and why we were being delayed. We asked them to (1) ensure we could pick up the car and check into the hotel one day later and (2) adjust our charges to reduce the costs by one day’s service. Capital One was very agreeable on the phone. They said they had called the car rental company and the hotel. We were told by Capital One that both companies had agreed to hold the reservations, but we would have to wait until Monday when the management was available to work on adjusting our costs. Between the time we talked with them that Friday night and returned home four days later, we did not receive a call from them or any updates. All information was sent by email. We initiated all communication. We had already told them we did not have access to our email. When we got to Texas, the rental car agency informed us that our car rental reservation was canceled and we would have to rent a car at a higher price. We immediately called Capital One. When their first response was “That’s our policy” we asked for the manager. Someone came on the line and told us it was not their policy to adjust reservations after they had been made, even though the night before we had been told they had done just that, and they could do nothing for us. We learned Capital One had no agreement with the rental car agency, even though Capital One had acted as the agent making the reservations, and that the rental car company policy was “location dependent” – they could cancel and require us to establish a new contract. Capital One took no responsibility nor felt any need to help us based upon our agency relationship. We learned that Capital One’s idea of “helping us rearrange our reservations” was to allow them to be canceled, expect us to eat the cost of the first set of reservations, and reschedule the remainder of the trip AT ADDITIONAL COSTS TO US. We immediately got a sick feeling in our stomach and checked our hotel reservations. Those, too, had been canceled. After some yelling, swearing, and discussion, Capital One did reserve a car for us and canceled the costs of the original reservation. They did call our hotel and re-established the reservations for no additional costs to us. In the end, we missed the wedding because we were on the phone so long working out the rental car and hotel reservations. We could not get there without a car, after all. We feel totally screwed and mistreated. Now if they will only reduce our costs for the day we missed in Texas, we might begin to feel like valued customers but we will never use Capital One for travel again.

I don't know what to tell you. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (The CFPB) which got started in 2011 to help the consumer fight corruption with banks and credit cards is a JOKE they don't read anything that is sent them and they police themselves.

They even sent my complaint about GE Capital Retail Bank and Pay Pal Smart Connect to my Discover Card and they are not even on the Complaint! I have been dealing with this bank and credit card company since 2011 up to this year 2013 April and it just keeps coming. I have never ever been treated bad by Discover Card and if they did and I forgot they fixed it. I have belonged to them for over 25 years and I would recommend them anytime.

They use a letter dated over a year ago to close my complaint and it only addresses two of the 40 problems that I have had with this useless agency that can't read, pay attention or retain what they read if they can read at all. The other agencies that I have listed turn it all over to this CFPB which is a JOKE! You think that Capital One is a crook you need to check out just how bad it really is out there when you deal with a bank and credit card company and your rights YOU HAVE NONE. The OCC (Office of the Currency Controller) The Department of Financial Institutions (The DFI) The Department of Justice here in California probably in other states to, (The CFPB) The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,The Federal Trade Commission (The FDC) etc.

cannot and will not do anything for you you have to take care of it yourself as I have tried to do and continue to do. It's like I have to babysit these agencies so that they PAY ATTENTION they have been in LA LA Land for Too Long! Keep records, dates, times, go into your account everyday, copy and paste etc., etc., because it is you against this wonderful United States of America that Corporate America is destroying faster then any war this country has ever had or seen. They lie, steal, cheat, cover-up problems and mistakes that they have made, make up names for this charge and that charge and then deny it even when presented to them.

Start agencies that are a waste of your time and your tax dollars. Your on your own because the corruption in this country of America is out of control. The FBI can't even keep up with the crimes that are committed it is very sad what is happening in the United States of America today!

:x :sigh :eek :roll :roll Really sad when you think :cry about it. :sigh

Capital One in Fredericksburg, Virginia - Branch Manager

I have been a customer of Capital One and my main location is the Capital One at Harrison Crossing in Fredericksburg Va. This is the second time this has happened and I think it is the most unprofessional behavior that I have experienced. The Branch Manager, Fareen (might not be the right spelling) I have witnessed her with 2 different tellers degrade, yell, and just right rude to her staff. It is not very becoming of a customer to see that kind of behavior and on top of that it is not very good representation of Capital One for hiring someone like that. I suggest that she has a mandatory manager course that she should take or just get rid of her. If I was the teller on the other end I would be submitting a complaint to Human Resource. Please take care of this because if I have noticed it as a customer so have others.

Capital one cheats and lies.

Capital one us the worst finance company ever, they do not keep their. I got my auto loan 2007 2009 we were having some financial issues,I ask COAF,for an extension, which they did,by one month, They also took the monthly payment directly from my account, and we agreed to the first and fifteenth, they however tried to pull it out at least two days before, and incurred ISF, I never realized that these ISF were accumulating, and after paying off my car instead sending me my title, they sent me a bill for 1,546, I called to find out what that was for, and said late fees and bounce checks, tell me, really, if my money is coming out directly from my account, on the days we both agreed, how is the ***, can I owe late fees? the explanation made no sense, so I will fight this, even if it has to be in a class action suit.
