Capital One Treated me like a Criminal

I have excellent credit and applied and was granted a Capital One Venture Card. When I called in to authenicate the card I was immediately given over to the security division. They asked that I send a copy of drivers license, social security card, and a recent bill with my name on it. I complied 100%. A day later I received a call back now asking that I send them a different utility bill, and a statement from the social security office stating that the number I provided was correct. Why would a company like this give me so much grief? Personally it is not worth the hassle. I asked them to remove my information from their system and I would cut their card up. I was going to use this for my small business. My purchases would have been approximately $200,000 a year But who needs this kind of hassle. I am all for reasonable security but I am sure I am not the only one out there who was treated like a criminal by Capital One for applying for a credit card.

Same thing with me!! Tried to make a purchase of $2500 for a computer and they blocked my credit card.

After calling 3 different times and was promised that the block would be removed, I finally gave up and told the merchant to cancel the order. I will be canceling this credit card ASAP!! I verified all their security checks and they still treat me like a criminal!! ***!!!

Capital ONE!!! Will never deal with you again!!

Capital One in Silver Spring, Maryland - TOTAL DISREPECT FOR THIS CUSTOMER

This bank is HORRIBLE! The Branch Manager and his cronies are the worst customer service representatives I've ever seen. They say they are going to help - and they don't help. They say they are going to call - and they never call. And the FEES they bang you with at every instance that they can is nothing short of usury and is borderline criminal. Once I was hit with sixteen $35 fees in three days. Another time it was eight $35 fees in two days. And this was when there was more than enough money in my account. There were actually several $35 fees on charges of $9 and less. And they did NOTHING about it. Do NOT do business with this bank.

That's an old trick that Capital One uses to try to trick customers into paying late fees. They hire people to sit in offices and think up these tricks to use on their customers, which is why we need Elizabeth Warren in Congress to read them the riot act!

They also hire trolls to come on complaint sites like this and try to put a positive spin on their company's rotten actions. 8)

They send our statement with only 3 days until past due, forcing us to pay by phone. When processing the info they transposed some numbers and never processed the request.

They apply a late charge, and I never knew that this was happening until the next statement. After the second time this happened, I had my bank on the conference call to Capital One, where then and only then after it was very clear the error was on their side, did they remove the late charges. I have since closed my account with them. Why do they send statements with only 3 days to past due?

To push you to use on-line or pay by phone is what I think. I have stopped payments on-line due to the insecure nature of the way they handle our information. I have credit score over 800. I take my credit and bill paying seriously.

This company has borderline predatory practices.

Not friendly to do business with. I highly recommend a different banking card!

@screwed also

You know y6ou owe the bill. Not getting the bill is not an excuse.

You can look the bill up online and pay anytime you choose. You choose to wait for a bill and be late.

Why should they do anything about it? It is not their responsibility to maintain your account...it is YOURS.

THEY did not overdraft your account, YOU did.

Pay up or close your account. You obviously are not adult enough to have it.

Capital One in Corona, New York - Rrestricted Account Never Used Card and Charged

I applied for a card, I was approved, sent the card and tried to use it. Could not use it because it was restricted. I was demanded to send further information relative to my identity bia fax, which THEY LOST. I refused to send more documentation until they found it. About 4 weeks later they claimed they located my 13 page fax and still restricted my card. I tried to cancel the card and account on numerous occasions and I was told I could not until I paid the processing fee. FOR WHAT?????????? Processing fee for a line of credit NOT a Restricted account!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They CONTINUOUSLY are charging me although THEY CLAIMED to have cancelled the account in December. NOW I have a Bill that says 133.00 dollars, and the account was CLOSED!!!!!!!!! Are they CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be it known: TAKE ME TO COURT! I've got documentation that ALL YOUR PROCEEDINGS ARE BASED ON FRAUD! LET's GO!!!!!!!! Matter of fact I will MEET YOU AT FED COURT! I wish SOMEONE WOULD STRT A CLASS ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hers my dilemma. In 2010 I bought items at a Kmart.

I was offered$10 off to complete a credit card app. I just wanted to get the $10 off an didn't care about the card.About a month later it shows up in mail. When I saw they wanted a yearly fee I cut it up and mailed it back. In the interim-I believe it was -HIBERNIA- changed over to someone else.

They then began charging me the yearly fee. Upon ignoring it, it incurred late fees and penalty until the debt was over $300. I wrote them an explained probably 10 times.

They ignored it and it is still on my credit report for an "account" that was never used and turned down. How do I get rid of it???

They did this to me over 6 years ago and collection agencies still contact me for a bill for over $3,000 for a credit card I NEVER USED! So frustrating!

They have never once been able to tell me where the credit card was used at or what the supposed purchases were!

Scam for sure!

Capital One in Saint Louis, Missouri - Household Bank Class Action

Household Bank refuses to work with me on my past due balance while I was out of work. I am able to make minimum payments again but with a 19.99% interest rate, I will never get it paid off since they continue to charge me a $35 late charge per month, an over the limit fee of I belive $30, and interest on interest. My minimum payment on a 2000 balance is 56. The minimum payment doesn't cover the late charge and over the limit fee they charge me each month. The two payments I made past month went to fees and they continue to charge me for being past due. I am considering a class action. Respond if interested!

Capital One in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan - Customer-myself

In October of 2012, someone stole my wallet while I was in the hospital having surgery and made charges on my Capital one Credit Card. when the next bill came, as soon as I saw the charges that I did not make, I called the bank and told the people that capital one has out sourced to in India and I was given the credit when I called and I asked to close the account and how much did I owe and I would pay off the account and they told me and it was paid off. Two months letter, I got a bill in the mail with all the charges back on and they told me someone at 1-800-452-7820 Ext 2913194 was their supervisor and she put the charges back on to the account that was closed. Do not understand how this can be done but they did do it. Now, I get phone calls every day telling me to call Linda and when I call the number no one knows who Linda is. The calls start at 8 am and stop around 9 pm every day 7 days a week. every time I call the capital one bank, I am given to the Collections over due account dept and they now tell me I am over my credit limit and have not paid on the account for 2 months and it was closed.

Capital One in Richmond, Virginia - Too difficult to do simple things with their credit cards

1) tried to order new credit card on established account for new employee. Could not do on line, but took a while to figure out. Had to call 2) called, gave them all sorts of information about me and new employee. They said all good 3) they notified me card could not be sent because address was wrong. 4) I had to call them back to verify address (which was correct) and I again had to tell them all sorts of personal information to attest to who I was. 5) later that day, I got 3 calls on my answering machine from their fraud center. I called them back, gave them the multi-digit number they left on my answering machine, again told them all my personal information, then had to do it again to a specialist. But even that wasn't enough and they asked for my driver's license number. 3 hours spent trying to get this done and still no credit card

Capital One in Indianapolis, Indiana - Dont do business with this company

I co-signed for a laptop on 18 months same as cash for my son. I told them not to give him any further credit on this account. They went behind my back & gave over $2000. He used it & eventually didnt pay them. Instead of contacting me, the co-signer, they sold the account & my info to some *** company. The collection company contacted me at the beginning of December 2012 & I paid the amount due on 6 dec 2012. They are still harrassing me numerous times daily & called today 31 jan 2012. Capital One says I sent them a email changing my address. I have lived in the same place since 2001. I challenged them to produce the email & as of today they still have not done so. All I asked them to do was get their attack dog collection company off me & take their mistake off my credit. They refused to do anything & gave me the run around. I got the BBB involved & they did not cooperate at all. They have thousands of unresolved complaints against them at The Better Business Bureau & they are NOT rated "A". I really regret dealing with this shady company more than I can express. After I got out of the military, I worked hard to have good credit & they can just do this to people without any worries of discipline by the government. Theres no way to add up the loss I'll experience by paying more interest on future loans, etc...but I'll not have an account with this dirty, shady company.

OMG! The same thing happened to me as well!

I just deposited a check on Tuesday and it cleared showing that the $241.00 was AVAILABLE so later the same day I transferred $150.00 to my savings account leaving my checkings at abt $91. Then the NEXT MORNING I was charge TWO sums of $35 one for insufficient funds for the $150 I transferred and the other for an overdraft cause of an automatic payment that came through for a credit card...and I was LIVID because ALL DAY Tuesday when I deposited the check it was stated clearly as AVAILABLE, now is that my fault? So at first they told me the same thing...they could only refund HALF of ONE of the fees. I felt that was a bunch of major *** so I asked for a manager and she only said she can refund one of the fees, so I asked for her manager so now I'm awaiting a callback to work on getting my other $35 return.

I feel that it was NOT MY FAULT it posted the check as available, cause if it shouldn't have allowed me to transfer to begin with if they so call say the funds are "not available till next business day".

My thing is i have been with capital one since I was 17. I'm 22 now and have NEVER EVER been late on credit card payments, had any insufficient or anything negative going on with my accts, so I feel they should respect my seniority and good payment habits and own up to there mistake and give me my money back.
