Capital One - Ripp Off

Had Capital One Credit card, lost my job got behind in payments. They did not care or want to work with me. I tried to send in what I could each month. Finally when I did get another job I paid them off in full plus interest. However, they did not bother reporting this Credit Report Companies.. So my credit is marked and then they wanted me to pay an additional $24.00 to keep my card but unable to use the card.... WTF? This is fair practice to the public. Why isn't Obama fixing these issues for the American People. Capital One think they are God when they are messing with you Credit Report. The Credit reporting agency also needs a good kick in $ss they also need to look at the persons past credit and see if there was a reason for a few late payments and not punish us of 7 plus years. And we wonder why the US is in such bad shape.....

Many debt collection companies do not report one way or another if you make good on a debt it's in all that nice fine print that you signed. As far as Obama fixing things, he's not the one that is running up your credit card bills.

It's an easy fix, don't spend what you don't have.

Yeah times are hard but people did actually survive without credit cards and 2nd mortgages. It's a foreign concept now I know, but that's why our country has gotten into this mess and it will really take realizing we don't need 500 channels of cable television, or the big new car, etc.

I happened to look at two recent deposit slips where I deposited checks at an ATM. The dollar amount shows up in the photo. At the bottom, it shows the previous balance, then the deposited amount. For the second time, I am seeing it is shorting me by 100.00. This on...

I just took out an auto loan with Capital One Auto Finance in late December. My first payment isn't even due until February 1, 2011, yet I am receiving 6-8 calls PER DAY from them on my cell phone. When, after dozens of calls, I called the "877" number they provided,...

You need to do a little research of fair credit collection act and consumer protection act. Contact your local attorney general's office and report this harrassment under the fair credit collection act. They are using this "welcome call" as a ruse to harrass you and skirt the law it is against the law.

Capital One in Bradford, England - Lower payment agreement

I have been with capital one credit card for about 10years in the last year i went over my limit by 2 pounds and obviously got charged. As they stopped sending me statements this amount accumulated as i kept up my normal monthly payments (which were not enough). I requested that the charges be taken off my account which they declined. In the meantime i lost my job and was on benefits sent them covering letter with income and expenditure form with offer of payment. which thery declined and kept piling on the charges. they have passed the debt on to collection agency which are hounding me approx 20 calls a day. sent duplicates to debt collection company of correspondance. They will not except my offer of payment. But atleast all interest and charges have been frozen. I have stated about the justice act 1970 and they have stated over the telephone that they will still continue to call. I have offered to pay the debt in full minus the charges but they will not except. whats my next route and ideas?????

I am having a similar problem. Capital One is not wanting to assist with financial distress.

I've made payments faithfully and when I need help the agents on the phone always state "You agreed to the contract." Something unethical or an unethical practice is occurring. I am in the process of trying to find out what is going on. I wish a journalist would do an investigation on Capital One and uncover what is going on. Capital One Auto finance is vicious in their practices.

I wish it was possible for consumers to request a print out of notes being posted in their system and if supervisors post comments on how to not help. I've been paying on this car for so long and the interest on it was extremely high. When I ask for a print out of what was paid into principle and then interest I am told they can't print it out. When trying to adjust the payment date I am told for the life of the loan is 15 only.

For a 5 year loan seems very little amount of days. When asked to refinance Capital one does not do that to their own loans. I was told to get a loan from a bank. Isn't capital one a bank?

Why would they want their loans to leave? When the customer advocate called I wasn't able to answer so I left a polite message. They never called back. I purchased the car at $18000 and I believe when paid in full it will be over $40000 in total with interest.

That just doesn't seem fair. I see that Capital One uses the fear of lawyers and paperwork to not help.

I am hoping that http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ is able to find a resolution to the horrific experience I had with Capital One. I am writing this with no additional information because I am sure Capital One has people that read these blog sites to have a preemptive position.

From my experience i suggest go online and sign up for online payments and set it up...you have all the info. Or just pay the loan by check each month.

You do not have to deal with a hadful of unpleasant people and am sorry for this.

By law if there are two people on the loan like in your case your dad and mum, both are equally responsible even if one is deceased. So u should not have a problem if u mail in payments or try to set up online.

Capital One in Livingston, New Jersey - Do Not Give them your phone number.

I have had my loan with Capital One since April 2007. I never missed a payment, A year ago I lost my job due to the recession. I explained that to the representative and a payment plan was set up with them (Capital One). The rep. advised me that he can't stop the phone calls.. In a one week period they have called me 103 times.. Insane!! There is a recession and people are trying their best. Whatever you do, Please don't given them your number.. they will drive you crazy with their rude representatives. They do not listen to reason..

It is perfectly legal in the United States to collect on a debt that you OWE!

Yes this may suck, but it's Legal! Why don't you look up the law?

I unfortunately have been in the same position. You are allowed technically 10 days after your payment due date, but they will call you ALL DAY long..I was 4 days late on one payment because of how my paycheck fell and they called me 83 times in ONE DAY.

I normally use the harassment line on them and they relax for a bit. Sorry you have to go thru this!

I've had the exact same experience. What a waste of time and money for them to keep calling!

I keep thinking they'll cause someone to commit suicide because it's so infuriating.

Capital One in Bethany, Oklahoma - Harassing creditors; not even customer; will file complaint CEO

Got a new phone number for my work. Apparently, the guy who had that number before owes Capital One Auto Finance money for an Altima. The creditors call ~2-4 times daily and it is completely useless to talk to anyone (they are useless themselves)and very unhelpful, especially if they feel the slightest bit of defiance on your end. After trying different angles and wasting about an hour of my life, I got to a worthless piece of flesh that was obviously not management material, however claimed to be a "account manager" and "no one above" his position and will "stop the calling". Although I talked to an individual so far up the chain of command, the calls continue. If you google "Capital One CEO", you find a link that has a possible address to the CEO of Capital One at their corporate headquarters in VA, the Attorney General of VA and the Commissioner of Financial Institutions of VA. As a potential customer, I will never deal buisness with this company (especially after seeing the complaints) and I will make it a duty in my life to encourage others to do the same.
