My elderly mother relocated from NY to PA. She had a CD with Capital One Bank that recently matured that she wanted to withdraw and deposit into her new checking (different bank) in PA. The first phone call to make this request was suspicious. The rep did not ask enough information, but said transaction would take 1-3 days. She even received a transaction confirmation number.
It took three phone calls and over two hours of time to find that we were entirely misled by the first rep and that we had to send a written/notarized request.
Their people are incredibly incompetent, and with each phone call we got a different story. Beware of Capital One. Put your money elsewhere.
