took my car due to non payment. I could not make my payment to to financial hardship within my family. I had three family members pass away in 3 months. I could not come up with the "CASH" for a western union/money gram/or credit card. I was able to get the money...

personal sadness is no reason to expect them to accept no payment. this is childlike behavior.

does your boss not pay you for weeks after you earned the wages due to his problems? no, he meets payroll by borrowing or making arrangements for a line of credit before problems happen...plan ahead, no excuses.

Capital One in Washington, District Of Columbia - Confirmed payment on email then held payment for 9 days

Capital One Master Card has horrible customer service policies! I payed my balance in full electronically through my bank's bill pay system. I have been paying this same way for years. I received an email confirming that my payment posted to my account three days prior. However, when I tried to use the card it did not work. I called Capital One and was told that they had put my payment on hold for 9 days! I am furious!!! It was an electronic payment from my bank, and my credit should have been available to me. Credit card companies have their own investments, and it is very clear to me that they wanted to hold the money, so that they could gain interest on their investments, rather than making my credit available to me. My advice -- NEVER get a credit card from CAPITAL ONE.

I just had the same issue. I sent a bank draft for the balance due and they are holding it for 14 days and my account is frozen. Now I have to make alternate arrangements to pay my bills.

It's so frustrating and all they said is that they needed to confirm the funds.

I'm thinking of changing companies because I've never had this issue before.

@Anonymous

I completely understand. I am still furious.

Today I paid my bill on Capital One's website, instead of sending electronically from my bank, like I did last time.

I will keep you posted. Oh, and I too have never had this issue with any credit card company before.

Capital One sent condolence letter six years too late

A customer of Capital One for over ten years..after calling to activate my credit card, I was asked if I wanted the "other" card on the account activated. I had to explain the other card belonged to my spouse-who i had to explain was deceased. Days later I randomly received a letter conveying " their sincerest condolences" for the loss of my husband ( who passed away six years ago). The letter was curt and insensitive, not to mention the timing of it was completely unacceptable. It was appalling to open this computer generated letter, signed by no one. This company does not care about its customers and sends automated, heartless condolence letters without regard for the recipient or how this might make them feel. Capital one should either send a sincere note in a timely manner or nothing at all.

On line banking issues with Capital One Bank

Capital one is terrible when it comes to on line banking... when I logged in at 8 am on 3/29... instead of seeing m balances it said 'unavailable'... when I called on-line customer service they said their systems are updating, I should try to login in one hour At 9:30, same problem... when I called again, they said the same thing... when I asked at what time you anticipate the system to be back up... the representative said 'they have told us to say system is updating and you should log back in in 1-2 hours'. So they have no concept of time... at 8 am they say log back in in 1 hour and 9:30 they say try in 1-2 hours. Banks are supposed to do system updates at slow hours like midnight to 2 am... not at peak hours like 9 am. This is not the first time that I am having this problem with capital one.

Maybe you should probably stop going into that branch. What a sad decision based off of one person.

And you probably give her a reason to feel a certain way about you. I wish we stop complaining like we go in as angels and tell the whole story. Also she cannot possibly be rood.

but she can be rude. Spell check please :p

Capital One Banking provides poor service

Chevy Chase Bank was a good banking company with good customer service until Capital One bought them out. Now service is terrible. Even writing a letter to the CEO (Fairbanks) only resulted in a voice mail from some individual who wanted to "talk" to me about my complaint. When call was returned and voice mails left twice they never called back. Not even a letter of apology or offer to help was ever receieved. The branches are always understaffed with inexperienced people that do not always speak clear English. I will be pulling my larger money accounts out to another, possibly local bank, and be done with Capital One. It seems they are so busy spending huge amounts of money on advertising and marketing looking for new customers that they can't take care of their existing customers.

I recently had terrible experiences with them too. They're rude on the phone and not helpful.

I tried to contact them online, try to find a way to do THAT.

I fould a feedback button with a broken link, tried to back to it and it was gone.

My check is in the mail with a cut up card. I'm going back to my old bank with my business!

Hello, I am sorry to hear about this experience. I work in the Capital One Home Loans Servicing Dept.

As of today, 6/6/11, has this been corrected? I understand the confusion with the Hibernia to Capital One situation. Hibernia and Capital One started to merger in 2005. You can find more info by inputting "Capital One and Hibernia merger."

Anyway, I would like to see if I can help.

I do not specifically work in the department that would answer these calls but I am still able to look into it.

If this has not been resolved please reply to this comment and I will get you my contact information. Once again, I apologize for the frustration.
