Capital One in Washington, District Of Columbia - Confirmed payment on email then held payment for 9 days

Capital One Master Card has horrible customer service policies! I payed my balance in full electronically through my bank's bill pay system. I have been paying this same way for years. I received an email confirming that my payment posted to my account three days prior. However, when I tried to use the card it did not work. I called Capital One and was told that they had put my payment on hold for 9 days! I am furious!!! It was an electronic payment from my bank, and my credit should have been available to me. Credit card companies have their own investments, and it is very clear to me that they wanted to hold the money, so that they could gain interest on their investments, rather than making my credit available to me. My advice -- NEVER get a credit card from CAPITAL ONE.

I just had the same issue. I sent a bank draft for the balance due and they are holding it for 14 days and my account is frozen. Now I have to make alternate arrangements to pay my bills.

It's so frustrating and all they said is that they needed to confirm the funds.

I'm thinking of changing companies because I've never had this issue before.

@Anonymous

I completely understand. I am still furious.

Today I paid my bill on Capital One's website, instead of sending electronically from my bank, like I did last time.

I will keep you posted. Oh, and I too have never had this issue with any credit card company before.

Capital One sent condolence letter six years too late

A customer of Capital One for over ten years..after calling to activate my credit card, I was asked if I wanted the "other" card on the account activated. I had to explain the other card belonged to my spouse-who i had to explain was deceased. Days later I randomly received a letter conveying " their sincerest condolences" for the loss of my husband ( who passed away six years ago). The letter was curt and insensitive, not to mention the timing of it was completely unacceptable. It was appalling to open this computer generated letter, signed by no one. This company does not care about its customers and sends automated, heartless condolence letters without regard for the recipient or how this might make them feel. Capital one should either send a sincere note in a timely manner or nothing at all.

Yeah, uh, that's also why Bank of America *** near completely floundered in the recession and Capital One still turned a ONE BILLION DOLLAR PROFIT the first full year of the recession. They don't take lowball settlements and they WILL get their money BACK from you one way or another.

That's how it works. READ YOUR CONTRACTS!!!!!

Capital One ***

Been a customer in good standing with Capital One for many years and I have an outstanding credit rating. Called to question something about my account and the rep couldn't answer it to my satisfaction. I asked for a manager at couple of times which she refused, finally she yelled something and then hung up. Called back and finally talked to a manager and he was able to help me. Later wrote them to complain about the rep and the wrong information that I was given previously but I just got the run around. Is it common for reps at this place to yell and hang up on customers? Looks like I'll be movin' on. Bunch of ***

Capital One in Washington, District Of Columbia - Cap One Payment Protection

I was laid off 8 months out of 2009 and had it not been for payment protection I would have drowned. Say what you will about them, they have been GREAT to me and my credit score. They paid promtly, left me alone other than the occasional "are you working yet" form letter. I didn't even know I had it until a Cap One Collector called me to advise at which time they (Payment Protection) not only paid the minimum but also the arrears and fees the month past and brought my account current. This service was a savior to me when I needed it most and I would recommend (especially in the day and age) everyone get it when opening any unsecured LOC. Don - Columbia, MD.

Capital One Bank called me from India at 2 am

After many months I am still getting calls from India telling me that my account is late, I guess the time change has not been told to the India workers of Capital One Bank. My account was closed and paid off, now they tell me that my account was not closed and I was charged a fee for having the account and then I did not pay the fee and now I got a late fee and over the limit fee for a account that I did closed many months ago. This was done for two charged card accounts that were closed and paid off. All fees from the bank and no items were charged to the two accounts. How can they do this and keep calling me at 2 am from India and the bank does not care. I write and call and write and call and no one cares. James Staley, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Capital One mailed me a credit card with a $250.00usd limit but at that time I had two other cards that combined, the limit was over $6000.00usd and in great standing. I did not apply for the capital one card so I called them to cancel it but they tried to talk me into keeping it.

I was persistent about not wanting to so they cancelled the card and charged me $6.00usd that appeared on my credit report and it took me over a year to get them to clear this off my report. I know it isnt much but the fact is that they seem to be able to do what they want, how they want, and to whomever they choose.

Yesterday, I called the Customer Service dept. at the CHASE Bank

checking account dept and I got a man from India and when i asked him for some one that could speak English better than him, he hung up on me and when i called back, I got some one in Honduras and he could not speak English any better. it is a shame that Banks from American are out sourcing to other Countries.

Capital One in Washington, District Of Columbia - Called me from India at 2 am

Capital one bank, has workers calling me at 2am, 3am for many month telling me I owe for a account that I have closed many months ago and the money that they feel I owe is for their fees for having a capital one card, and late fees for not paying for their fees, when I did close the account. when I call them, and I write, they tell me I did not close the account and they can call when ever they want until I pay their fees. It is bad enough to get the calls during the night, but they can not even speak English. James Staley, Ann Arbor, MI. staley-james@sbcglobal.net.

re: tired of loosers

"I think you need to worry about your witting first before their English."

You have spelled "losers" and "writing" incorrectly. And all this in a post admonishing someone about his writing. Brilliant.

All you have to do is write them a letter stating you wish to only be contacted by mail and not by phone and they have to stop.

I think you need to worry about your witting first before their English. then you need to stop being full of ***.

They don't call anyone at 3am. If they do that's you're fault for not having your phone number in the correct time zone.

Capital One in Washington, District Of Columbia - CapOne will take your money...and not give it back

I had a long standing money market account with Capital One. I called to order checks. My mail box was broken into and I called to cancell the checks. I was informed since I had no sig card, no checks could ever have been sent and there was no record of checks being printed for my account. A few weeks later....checks were cashed. I called, we froze the account. I signed and returned and affidavate to get my money back...it was outsite their "ten day period" and now they will not give me my money for an error THEY made and could have prevented. HOURS were wasted on the phone. horrible customer service. bank elsewhere
