Capital One in Orlando, Florida - Poor fraudulent activity support.

Extremely poor customer service when fraudulent charges are put on your card. I called them within hours (4-6) of receiving an email from CO. They assured me the charges would be removed and canceled my existing card and promised a new one overnight. All well and good, excellent review when I was contacted. Fast forward 6 days and find $7500+ fraudulent charge previously reported was still on my account. Called again and was given a song and dance about an investigation and would be contacted in 2 to 3 weeks. Oh, BTW, your account is basically frozen as the charge in question is close to your credit limit!! Bottom line--- I don't have a functioning credit card. BTW I live over 900 miles from the jewelry store was located and have never visited Louisiana North of New Orleans which was 27 years ago.

Capital One - Account Review from Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Details
I paid a bill to them through my new bank acct not realizing that the pymt would be late. Ok so I admitted this and got a $35 fee. The girl said they would waive it. She also said they had rec'd the pymt. Next month I should have a zero balance. Nope they charge me more fees. I called them up and got the run around. I closed my acct and paid what I actually owed them thru my bank. The next day I mailed a money order for the money I didnt owe them. That was the first week of June. I got a statement that they rec'd. Now I have bill for another fee, due july 18? Think its time to talk to the federal trade commission, the better business bureau and consumer affairs! Off to write some letters!

Problems with payment
I'm not going to tell you that this is the first problem I have had with them, it was the last one though, that is for sure. The straw broke the camel's back this morning. I had to buy plane tickets this morning to fly up to see my mother, who I have not seen in over a...

Credit card laws changed several years ago. Credit card companies are not allowed to let you exceed your limit unless you Opt in to this service.

The same goes with checking accounts. In short, this is not cap 1's fault.

Capital One is deceptive

Do not open a money market account with Capital One. After having a MM acct. with them for over 8 years, I called to switch over to a "Rewards Money Market Account". Long story short - I still do not have access to my money after two weeks. It's a large sum, BTW. They now say that they have a "10 business day hold" on all new accounts. Technically, this is not a new account and they know it. They transferred my money from one account to another. I guess that now makes my money suspicious? They lie about sending out the checks immediately. I do not have checks or an ATM card to access my own funds. This is not acceptable. Don't trust these people.

Capital One in Tampa, Florida - Burnt by Midland

I had a Capital One credit card. They sent me another cardit card. I thought that it was a renwal card. The put a hold on the card that i was using for none payment. When i called Capital One and explained it to them i was told that they would put the 2 cards together. That never happened. So i stopped paying the bill. Midland funding seued me for the entire palance of the bill in 2007. Midland said that they were repersenting Capital One. The judge asked me if i owed the bill i told him that i did owe Capital One. I also told the Judge about the other account number and we decieded to roll both into the judgement.I had to supply Midland with the account information because they didn't have it. When i called Midland after the court hearing to setup payments they said that they had to charge me 21% intrest on the total balance. After the judgement had alleady been set for 11%. So i refused to pay. Three years later the garnish my pay. Whent to court to stop the garnishment and the judge did not want to hear any reason. looking for a Lawyer hope its not to late.

Screwed by Capital One - July 2010

I have been a Capital One cardholder for 10 years. In Feb 2010, I received a letter from them stating my "Introductory" APR expired. The net result was my rate immediately changed from a steady (for numerous years) 4.95% to 15.9%. After reading that letter, I immediately called their customer service line to ask (1) why since I have never exceeded by limit nor made a late payment and (2) what options did I have to get my rate back to what it was or at least lower. I was told (quote) "We understand your frustration but apologize as there's nothing we can do at this time to lower your APR. Please call back next month to see if it's possible at that time to reduce your rate. In the meantime, I'll notate your account that you called to inquire about lowering your rate." Since Feb 2010, I called each month with the same question and was literally given the exact same (scripted) reply. In the meantime, my monthly minimum payment more than doubled to Capital One. I've struggled but paid each one and did so on time. July 2010, after six months of struggling and calling Capital One, I called again with the same question and was told by "Seth" that I could "OPT-OUT of the NEW terms" that caused my APR to jump. I immediately reacted, informing him that I've been asking this question for six months .. why only now was I offered this wonderful news? His answer: "We are DISCOURAGED from telling customers about the opt-out option which also places your account in RESTRICTED status." I asked what "restricted status" meant and he clarified that "the card could NO LONGER BE USED for purchases BUT would reinstate your original APR of 4.95%." I nearly shouted "PERFECT!" when he told me this news. He said he would need to transfer me to a "senior account specialist" to complete my OPT-OUT request. I waited approx 5 minutes and another gentlemen took over the call. He was quick to tell me: "You've unfortunately MISSED the window of opportunity to OPT-OUT of the new terms and, therefore, you are STUCK (he actually said STUCK) with the new APR of 15.9%" WTF? I was LIVID. I told him how I've called for six consecutive months asking how I can get my old APR of 4.95% back but was told to call back .. and that my inquiry would be noted on my account. He proceeded to tell me "I'm sorry but there's no record of you ever calling - to ask about your APR or any other reason". If I could have jumped through the phone to strangle someone at Capital One .. I would have. I told him this is a SCAM and that I would be blogging this online on as many websites as I could locate. He said (quote) "I would do the same if I was in your situation". Either way, Capital One are running a DIRTY business of lending. Just google "CAPITAL ONE SCREWED" and you'll find a ton of posts like mine. I wish I could dump this account but, unfortunately, I'll be stuck paying off the balance well into the foreseeable future. I have since submitted a complaint at: http://www.occ.treas.gov/customer.htm

Paid off credit card but get a "Membership" Fee from Capital One...

Capital One is a scam. I have a card through Capital One that I dont use and has been paid off for sometime. I noticed in Dec that I had been charged a "Membership" Fee of $29 back in Sept. The card went 60 days diliquent before I noticed I had these "Membership" fees... needless to say I was hit with a 30 day diliquent to my credit and late fees for something I didn't even do... I called Capital One they said to call back once the account payment cleared and talk to them about getting the membership fee waived going forward but I'm stuck with a 30 day diliquent on my credit... This is ridiculous...

I use Capital One for an insurance policy that I have on my daughter...it's a fixed monthly charge and I always pay it off...but let me tell you what these *** did to me 2 years ago. First of all, I've been with Capital One for 15 year, and NEVER made a late payment. NEVER. In fact, I usually paid more than the minimum due. 2 years ago, out of the blue, my 6.99% interst rate skyrocketed to 25.99%. That's a 400% increase! I called them and asked them what was up; they told me they had sent me a notice with the offer of my "opting out." What the *** does "opting out" mean? Cancel the *** card?

I kept the card, but I will never, ever, EVER run a balance. In fact, I really don't need them at all, since I have 2 other cards with better rates. But I delight in making them do the paperwork and log my payment every month; knowing that they aren't making a dime on my balance...because it's very small (less than $40 a month) and because I pay if off completely.

All these credit card companies are pure ***. I'd love it if the American people would band together and boycott all of them; I'd happily cut up all my credit cards; but only if EVERYONE did it, so it really HURT them.
