I have contacted Capitol One Auto on more than one occasion. I have not received any help from them. I took out a loan in 2012 for $16,000 and I still owe $6800. I was not working for a while and I applied for a hardship loan. I still made payments they were just...

Capital One in Tampa, Florida - Double Booked my credit card for same flight

I booked a flight on cheapo air and when i was finished entering all my info, including credit card info, i was blown off the site. I went back to cheapo air and called the customer service number listed on the site. I asked if my credit card had been charged. the agent had me wait on hold for 15 minutes and came back and informed me that my credit card had not been charged. The agent then said she could book the flight for me. I gave her all the info on flights, times and dates and she re-booked the flights. On the 28th of June I received my credit statement and I was charged twice for the flight. After talking to my credit card company, US Airways and Onetravel .com I was told to fax a copy of my credit card bill to onetravel.com for review. I have not heard back from them and i am out $375.90.

Your credit card company just processes what the merchant sends them, Capital One did not make the charge twice - you did and got bad info from the travel agent. Why is it your credit card companies fault that YOU booked two tickets - even if you got bad information they did not give it to you.

And just how the *** is this capital ones fault? They aren't minds readers.

There are people who make multiple purchases to the same company ... for the same amount...

on the same day. Blame the merchant and get your self a better pc and Internet connection.

Capital One in Tampa, Florida - Burnt by Midland

I had a Capital One credit card. They sent me another cardit card. I thought that it was a renwal card. The put a hold on the card that i was using for none payment. When i called Capital One and explained it to them i was told that they would put the 2 cards together. That never happened. So i stopped paying the bill. Midland funding seued me for the entire palance of the bill in 2007. Midland said that they were repersenting Capital One. The judge asked me if i owed the bill i told him that i did owe Capital One. I also told the Judge about the other account number and we decieded to roll both into the judgement.I had to supply Midland with the account information because they didn't have it. When i called Midland after the court hearing to setup payments they said that they had to charge me 21% intrest on the total balance. After the judgement had alleady been set for 11%. So i refused to pay. Three years later the garnish my pay. Whent to court to stop the garnishment and the judge did not want to hear any reason. looking for a Lawyer hope its not to late.

Capital One Account

Screwed by Capital One - July 2010

I have been a Capital One cardholder for 10 years. In Feb 2010, I received a letter from them stating my "Introductory" APR expired. The net result was my rate immediately changed from a steady (for numerous years) 4.95% to 15.9%. After reading that letter, I immediately called their customer service line to ask (1) why since I have never exceeded by limit nor made a late payment and (2) what options did I have to get my rate back to what it was or at least lower. I was told (quote) "We understand your frustration but apologize as there's nothing we can do at this time to lower your APR. Please call back next month to see if it's possible at that time to reduce your rate. In the meantime, I'll notate your account that you called to inquire about lowering your rate." Since Feb 2010, I called each month with the same question and was literally given the exact same (scripted) reply. In the meantime, my monthly minimum payment more than doubled to Capital One. I've struggled but paid each one and did so on time. July 2010, after six months of struggling and calling Capital One, I called again with the same question and was told by "Seth" that I could "OPT-OUT of the NEW terms" that caused my APR to jump. I immediately reacted, informing him that I've been asking this question for six months .. why only now was I offered this wonderful news? His answer: "We are DISCOURAGED from telling customers about the opt-out option which also places your account in RESTRICTED status." I asked what "restricted status" meant and he clarified that "the card could NO LONGER BE USED for purchases BUT would reinstate your original APR of 4.95%." I nearly shouted "PERFECT!" when he told me this news. He said he would need to transfer me to a "senior account specialist" to complete my OPT-OUT request. I waited approx 5 minutes and another gentlemen took over the call. He was quick to tell me: "You've unfortunately MISSED the window of opportunity to OPT-OUT of the new terms and, therefore, you are STUCK (he actually said STUCK) with the new APR of 15.9%" WTF? I was LIVID. I told him how I've called for six consecutive months asking how I can get my old APR of 4.95% back but was told to call back .. and that my inquiry would be noted on my account. He proceeded to tell me "I'm sorry but there's no record of you ever calling - to ask about your APR or any other reason". If I could have jumped through the phone to strangle someone at Capital One .. I would have. I told him this is a SCAM and that I would be blogging this online on as many websites as I could locate. He said (quote) "I would do the same if I was in your situation". Either way, Capital One are running a DIRTY business of lending. Just google "CAPITAL ONE SCREWED" and you'll find a ton of posts like mine. I wish I could dump this account but, unfortunately, I'll be stuck paying off the balance well into the foreseeable future. I have since submitted a complaint at: http://www.occ.treas.gov/customer.htm

call the customer service number on the back of your credit card for the account you did not open. let them know you never requested that account be opened in your name and they can investigate how it was opened.

are you just confused and have multiple cards on one account?

Capital One Fraud Deptment Denying Valid Use of Card

In 4 months, we've had about 15-20 occaisions in which Capital One card was denied use for fear of fraudulent activity. In each case, it was us using the card. Fraud Dept reps later call to confirm use of card but result of call is still Capital One is suspicious. Reasons so far: (1) more than one use at WalMart in a day (2) more than one use at a gas station in a day (one for car, one for gas can), (3) use card out of state without telling them we were going out of state. These calls are from Asian Indians who are hard to communicate with and follow illogical "rules" and supervisors are no better. Fraud Dept recommended closing card and getting a enw one. In the menatime, getting Fraud Dept calls stating more fraudulent activities which are simply recurring charges on the old card (lawn service, gym, car fast pass, etc). How do we file a complaint with Capital One to (1) make their Fraud Deptartment's FRAUDULENT CALLS stop and (2) get compensation for the 25-30 hours of time on frustrating phone calls and denied use of card?

I recently (after receiving offers from them every 2 weeks for 3 months) opened a new Capital One Credit Card Account. I received my card a few days ago, phoned the number given to activate and set up my PIN...of course I had to first listen and respectfully decline their offers of insurance, fraud protection etc.

(a 20 minute process). Within the hour I stopped at a Bank's ATM and attempted a $100 cash withdrawal only to receive an "unauthorized transaction" message. I promptly phoned the number given on the back of card and was told that my account had been suspended due to suspected fraud prompted by my transaction attempt. Are you kidding me!

Why had nothing of the sort come up when I activated my account not even an hour earlier...furthermore, they have my phone number (which was verified along with all my other identifying information when I activated the card) Why did they not call me?! Their reply was that they waited for the card holder to phone since someone fraudulently using the card would not bother to call...that is absurd! Then, after many phone calls to finally be able to speak to a supposed manager (they all claim to be the highest one up) I was given a list of items to fax to them to prove my identity...3 days later this issue is still not resolved (they couldn't read the driver's license...but didn't bother to phone to let me know that either...even though I gave all my contact info in my fax cover sheetand asked that they phone with any additional questions)...I really think they were simply trying to sell me the insurance, fraud protection, and monthly credit report *** and that since I declined having those charges put on my card they are now looking for a way to rescend their credit offer. I am unable to get to anybody within that organization with any authority to help me.

It is seriously the worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time, like you every time I call and am transferred I am disconnected...and there is no way to deal with just one person, so you have to go through the whole history each and every time you phone. They really need to get their act together, and I would also love to be able to contact someone higher up in their organization.

Capital One in Tampa, Florida - CAPITOL ONE

CAPITOL ONE is advertising Consumer Loans of up to $30,000 at 6.99% to 10.99%. A friend of mine with excellent credit applied for a loan and was sent a check with an interest rate of 10.99%. I told him I had excellent credit. He asked me to apply for a loan and I did. Sure enough, mine was for 10.99%. I voided the check and returned it. These consumer loans are a scam. You will NOT get the 6.99%, 8.99% or 9.99% loan. DON'T apply unless you are desperate and willing to pay 10.99%.

The worst credit card company in the world.

Anonymous
#120343

They have been charging me 24% interest on a cash advance for 2 years, which was suppose to be a credit advance. I have paid this card off many times and continue to use it, however they still have never applied any of the money i sent to them against the cash amount.

I finally paid the intire amount off last month and still when I got my statement this month they still want to charge me 24% on the cash amount, which was paid off. this company is the worst I have ever dealt with, when I called a billing manager names (anna) she was awful, she should be fired. I sent in my final charge w/0 interest and cancelled this awful ccd. I have had this card for 10years, and this is the way they treat a valued customer.

I hope they go bankrupt. I will never deal with capitol one again, and have adivsed my friends to cancel their cards also.

This company gave me a credit card 12 years ago and set a limit $325. They have never raised the limit and refused my request about 10 years ago to do so.

I missed a payment of $15.00(yes,you read it right, fifteen dollars) and after 3 days, they sent the account to a collection agency who called me (they are called Allied Interstate). They demanded that I pay $102.xx because the account was over its limit due to a $39.00 late fee assessed on a minimum payment of $15.00. Back in August 2009, they added annual membership which caused the account to go over its limit as well as a $19.00 over the limit fee.

I have not used the card in over a year. Unless you want to get ripped off, do not do business with this company
