I too have been the subject of a capital one screw over. It started when some fraud charges were made on my account so I called them and they were taken off, this was in October 2018. Now its February 2019 and the charges reappeared!
The service rep said that the merchant and capital one refunded me so basically I got double credit. Funny, I never got a check in the mail for this "extra" credit nor did I purchase anything with this extra credit.
The service rep kept saying to look at my transactions and do the math. I told the rep that if capital one wants to be reimbursed for this money they need to contact the merchant, not me as I dont have their money further, that if I had all this "extra" credit wouldn't I have bought something?
Looking at my transactions its clear I never used this magical extra credit.
So, should I pay them and keep my credit score or tell them to shove it?
