Capital One FRAUD ALERT

About 3 weeks ago I learned that my Capital One account had been frozen for suspected fraudulent activity. I called the fraud department and have been run around in circles ever since. This matter is still unresolved going on three plus weeks. I was told that I needed to send in a copy of my driver's license, social security card, and proof of residence (I.e. a utility bill). Sent in the information they requested and the first time they were fairly timely in responding, but only to tell me my gas bill was no good. Since then I have sent in a mortgage bill, a bank statement and a water bill. And with each item submitted absolutely no follow up from Capital One. I have had to call them each time, sit on hold for what is now hours, only to be told that the document I sent in was not good enough. The reason why they wouldn't accept each document has changed with each person I have spoken with. This has reached the point of insanity with Capital One. They apparently have very stringent rules and requirements which they don't bother to communicate to their customers. I was more than happy to provide them what they have requested, and they still don't believe I live where I do despite having in their hands a gas bill, mortgage bill, bank statement, and water bill. I am running out of bills to send them and I suspect this will never get resolved. When and if it ever is resolved I will be closing my account and never doing business with them again. Terrible service. The worst I have experienced with any financial institution.

I called capital one to discuss my hardship that I was going through. I asked them do they have a program to help me. They introduced me to their Reage Program for credit card. I asked the representative how much I need to pay per month. I was told to pay 26.00 dollars for three months that would make my account current and no late fee would be add. Now capital one has lied to me telling me to pay 60.00 for November 23rd. I can't afford that, feel hurt, and disappointed. I can't believe this company would do that to me. My name is Sherry Howell.

At least they worked with you. I got told that nobody would help me, that there was no hardship department, and that I had to pay the amount I couldn't afford or they would sue me. I feel your pain and I understand exactly what you feel.

Capital One, increased up my credit card rate from 7.9% to 17.9%. This I heard is a common practice to lock consumers into the *** of no return, as the drain every single dime. The first month I discovered this, I paid my account off in full. This was over 10,000... I had this luxury, but sadly this fraudulent act is done to many who don't have this kind of cash-flow. After, I paid it off in full, I ask them to refund the difference between the two rate cause I was not aware of the rate increase since I had been an excellent consumer. What was very telling, is the refusal. What was clear is their action did exactly what it was intended to do! Shake me down for extra money! On another note.. I used one of the (0) zero interest checks, only to discovered after tow months that instead of (o)zero rate, they charged me at the rate of 18%, along with charging a transaction fee. As far as I'm concerned, Capital One is at the top of the fraudulent credit companies in the world! I for one, have cancelled my credit with them and will never use them ever!!!!

Capital One doesn't allow online payments from Mac/Apple

I have made payment from my Mac for a year, ever since Chevy Chase was acquired. I was told by CapOne support today that they cannot process online payments from a Mac or any Apple product. Seriously? They do have an iphone app but that does not handle mortgage payments. So the only way left is to write a check or call every month and give them the account information on the loan and credit card account every month. There is about 1 in 4 people out there without a windows based PC. So they have just shut the door on 25% of their mortgage customers.

Capital One in Chicago, Illinois - Repeated daily calls requesting information

This number calls several times daily. Husband purchased a car financed through Capital One Finance less than a month ago. Car payment is NOT even due yet. Calls come in under the premise that it is a welcome call They even called at 9:00 p.m. on a Sunday night. Asks for personal information over the phone such as address, social security number, and even our telephone number. Refuse to give them any information whatsoever. They said to have husband contact them. Husband called and a recording said the number was not in service. What kind of outfit is this that continually harrasses a person to "welcome" them to their company and asks for your home address? This is not account verification--this is outright harrassment. The foreign-speaking woman is rude and persistent. Do they make their money from repetitive calls to the loan holders? I perceive this as a scam and someone had better close up this call center. This is definitely not good PR for Capital One.

Capital One Rip Off

Capital one just sent us a 1099c (I think that was what it was called) "cancellation of debt". however it wasn't really a cancellation of debt... basically they over charged us interest and piled late fees on top of late fees which took us over the limit, so then they piled over the limit fees on top of late fees. It was a big mess and none of those fees should even have been put on our account - it was their mistake. I told them I wanted to close the account but I was only willing to pay the balance I owed, not all the fees they piled on top. They agreed and We paid them off with last years tax refund, exactly what we owed. They reversed all the fees - or so I thought. Now they sent us this cancellation of debt form. I'm not sure what I'm suppose to do with it so I'll give it to my tax preparer along with my other paperwork, but now I guess its going to affect our taxes refund somehow. Don't do business with Capital One!!!
