I tried to open a checking account for my college-bound daughter. Repeated calls got us placed on permanent hold.

After 40 minutes the last time, we gave up. Clearly, Capital One doesn't care about attracting new customers. Chalk us up as going with their competition. Nonexistent customer service.

This too bad, since Capital One offers attractive terms for checking accounts.

Their website is also well designed. But their customer service is deplorable. Management needs to connect the dots between what they promise with their products to delivery of those products via efficient and responsive customer service.

We had to abandon our effort, leaving us with a highly negative impression of this company. In any case, we've moved on to a competitor bank.
