We had the unfortunate experience of having a car repossed due to falling behind on payment due to a work related injury and surgery. Capital One was not helpful at all.

A verbal agreement was reached to pay $xxx dollars a month until paid. In Oct 07 we received a voicemail to contact them. After more than 20 phone calls we finally got to talk to a person. Everytime we called their voicemail was full and would not connect with anyone.

We have met the verbal repayment agreement and now Capital One has notified us that at the end of December 07 all account of this type will go to a collection agency. Capital One has failed to live up to their end of the agreement and apparantly nothing can be done. They are liars and cheats.

I wish I had never heard of them, let alone do business with them.

I cannot for the life of me get a human being on the phone at capital one auto finance!!!!!!!! I am so angry!

and once I finally do they tell me that they are not closed for the hrs they tell you on the automated phone number! the rep straight up said to me "huh?, we aren't closed at those times" they want you to be late on your payments to collect the late fees! why wont the government or the B.B.B. do anything to theses people..

ill tell you why, its money! im thankful I got a loan but sometimes wish I never did because this is such a hassel. they call me at home while im at work and I even gave them my cell number but they never call it. I bet if my payments were late 3 months (the repo time limit) I bet you any money they would call my cell.

i agree about the fact to stay away from capital auto finance. yes i totally agree.my son and i purchase a vehicle a Few years ago.my credit is bad due to being a victim of stolen id.so we use capital auto finance.

BIG MISTAKE.i been reading all this complaints.i had a horrible experience with capital auto finance.turthfully i belive that the people that work for this bank or auto finance are train to lie cheat or do what ever it takes to rip off customers.but to me there is a consolation.

this people, like all of us humans.will give an account to the Lord.for all the money that was rip off from hard working people like myself.because there is a special place for those kind of people.who knows, maybe the people that have worked for capital one, will get to see mr.Richard d. Fairbank and will get to say hi to their boss.i will never again do business with this bunch of thieves!!

Capital One Auto Finance is full of Sh!+.. They are a bunch of thieves!

They called me one day and told me my car note was two months behind and I told them they were lying. First thing I asked was what months? They told me and I send them the two cancelled checks. The next week they call me and say that my account is one month behind and I ask what month?

They give me the month and I say didn't I just send you proof of that month? Then they say our research department may have that month and has not had time to correctly post it. So, I ask them not to call me until they have posted everything. The next day they call again asking about the same *** payment.

If you don't want a headache stay the *** away from Capital One Auto Finance.

When you ask for a manager they put a fake *** manager on the phone. Here is my advice for you just write the *** President of the company and let him know what type of thieves he have working for him.

His name is Richard D. Fairbank, Director, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President.



For the 4th or 5th time in a few months, they have put a hold on my credit card for no reason. It is so embarrasing! I am waiting in line to pay the cashier at a supermarket and the card gets declined. I know that there is plenty of money on the card, so I called the customer service number.

Guess what? I am transferred to India, where I could barely understand the customer rep's thick Indian accent. I had to repeat my card number several times, then she argues that the number I gave is not a legitimate number. I said, "What?!" I am reading the card that you, guys issued me and I have been using this same card for years.

Then, she puts me on hold for several minutes. Upon her return, I remind her that I am still holding up the line at the supermarket and people are starting to glare at me like it's my fault that my credit card is having problems. The service rep asks me to repeat the credit card number 2 more times, puts me on hold for 3 more minutes and then says that there is no hold on the card and for the cashier to try to run it again. For the 4th time, the store cashier runs the card and again, the computer screen says that the card is declined.

I tell the service rep this, and she still insists that it is not on their end, but on the store's end. The cashier runs the card 2 more times. Same thing. I ask the service rep to be transferred to a supervisor and she says in "an-i-don't-give-a-***" voice, "I can't transfer you until I exhaust all the troubleshooting possibilities.

What are the last 3 digits on the back of your card?" I give her the number and she says, "That is an invalid code". Again, I shriek, '"What?! I am simply reading the back of my card and I have used this code and this card for years? What is going on?" She says (amused), "Hold the line..." Again, I was on hold for several minutes, then she comes back on the line and said, "I don't see any problem on the card.

Run the card again... Maybe this time it will work." I ask the cashier (who at this time, is now glaring at ME), to run the card one last time. Guess what?

Card is still declined and the phone goes dead! Unbelievable!


I hate it when people say capital one was not helpfull. This a lie!

If you want to talk about how bad they are why don't you go ahead and post on here how many days you where late before they took the car? don't even think about saying oh I was 2 months late cause thats a lie. The fact you called in 20 times and left a voice mail is a lie. There are a lot of chances with capital one but everyone wants to pull the "they didnt want to help me" card.

I'm sorry but if you can't talk to someone and work out a plan with in 4 to 5 months of no payments you have an issue and need to just give up the car. When yo signed your contract you knew what would happen but ignored it.

any auto lender has the right to take back THEIR car if you are 1 day late. I think waiting 100 days is good enough.


:( My sister has an Capital One auto loan, I drive the car, make payments, and keep full insurance on the car. Had a wreck on 5/5/08.

Settled with the person that hit me, sent the check to Capital One, did not endorse it, didn't know, never had a wreck before. Called capital one to find out where to send it, they never mentioned that I had to endorse the back to them, called them after a couple of days to make sure that they received the check, they called me a dumb-*** and *** saying that I should have endorsed the check over to them. They informed me that they were going to cash the check, pay for the repairs, and apply the remainder to the balance on the account, check was for $6800.00 the repairs were for $3942.00 plus a little extra for rental car, while mine was in the shop. As of today 8/18/08 they have yet to pay the repair shop.

How can they cash the check when I haven't endorsed it yet is that not forgery? Everytime I have tried to contact them I get a different story or should I say lie.

Today when I called they told me that this is the first time that someone has contacted them on this situation, I have called the repair shop has called and I know my sister has called them about eight times on this. I want a lawyer to contact me and file a lawsuit, but seek class action status on it for all the fraudulent business practices

Capital One trest u like trash! They are not negotiable at all.

the Federal Trade Commission need to get on companies like this. they have a funny set up, to where u can pay more in the end with making multiple payment arrangemenets
